Fuel pump mod people might be interested in....
(warning, this post is long)
hey
dunno how much this affects other people but we did this fuel pump mod thing on my 95 the other day. JWT recommended me to reground the fuel pump awhile ago. finally decided to take their advice cause i have fuel probs like leaning out and surging. so off to the factory service manual.
Fed spec fuel pump control is an on off operation. Cali spec fuel pump control is lower voltage under certain conditions and higher voltage under certain conditions. lower voltage means less fuel flow. Seems there is a dropping resistor on Cali Spec and straight ground on Fed spec. by the way, resistance on the dropping resistor was out of spec. so we cut out the resistor and ground it straight to the body.
Next day, go for test drive, mmmmm NO MORE SURGING!! i love it! weird that osmething stupid like that would cause this prob.
ps. i dont know if this is the same for 96+ Maximas but i do know 95's are this way.
