Carbon Fiber Spare tire cover??

Hey people...im sure most of you have had the problem where the cardboard/fiber/wood covering over the spare tire well has caved in, warped, or just plain looks like sh*t. Has anyone used any other material besides plywood? I was thinking of using 2 layers of the carbon fiber mat found at tap plastics, hardned with their resin. Nothing flashy..just something light and strong to cover up the hole, and not cave in due to my sub box. Any suggestions? Fiberglass pehaps?

i just did that too...some MDF it works..but i just wish they had designed something a little stronger..seeing that the trunk has the potential to carry alot of weight.

I think cabon fiber would be rather excessive as there are other options of the same weight, and since you won't see it (covered by carpet), the "look" is gone as well.

I put 3/4" fiberboard over the whole trunk. Although not shown in the pics, I cut it in half so that it is easier to take out. And yes, I put the carpet ontop.

The reason I did it was so that I could put a full-size spare in, but it is very firm and does not sag like the previous cardboard did.
