LOL J/K I needed to get your attention.

I drove 2k2 today 6spd I have to tell you its the best car for the money. Its soooooooooooooo fast and comfy I cant explain to you how much I love nissan. The car picks up like a mo fo in any gear. I got wheel hop when switching to 2nd gear and chirped 3rd. To those who flame 2K2(dbmmaxima88) you are spoiled not mind setted people. No offence to you. For 25 grand its the best car you can get. Anyone who wants it get it and dont look back.

It stickers for $24k and change... I'm guessing $25k out the door.

i've read of many people getting their 2k2s for around 22-23k though, so look around, you may be able to find some great deals somewhere

From what I got from DMBs comments, he wasn't downing his '02 Max, he just wants something faster, more modfiable and enjoyable for a "young person".(I use the term loosely) not saying the Max isn't all of the above, but I guess he just got tired of driving a sedan around....

If you are in the Sacramento area I can get you a 2K2 SE, auto with 13K miles for $23,999 (Previous rental). (This is what my company is asking for this car, personally I think people can do better)

I have no clue LOL. Mind setted person has his/hers priorities straight thats all. I like my max but I consider different cars once in a while also but I still come back to mine cause you cant beat the deal I got for it and how it drives looks. I use to like the RSX type S but not anymore cause 2K2 is better.

I think your preaching to the choir here. I do agree that it is the best semi-sports sedan for the money. I paid $24K even with my only options being a power sunroof, splash guards, and floor mats. That was right at two months ago. I love it. Just the other day I was looking through a Consumer Guide that lists all the cars for sale and their prices. For under $35,000.00 there isn't a better semi-sport sedan out there. About the 'semi-sport sedan' nomer I've used....just get some of the suspension mods I have and it will be a legitimate sports sedan!!!

It's a fine car IMHO if you're gonna keep it at least 5 years and you could care less about how a car looks. If you keep it a short time even at 24k it's no bargain, the depreciation is killer. It's not average as some seem to say, it's extremely steep. RS-X has very nice depreciation so if they were both say 25k the Max is actually much much more. That dep. is part of the cost of ownership.

I will let other people take the huge new-car-book-value-drop and buy that sucker used after 2-3 years
I also drove a 99 M3 5 spd today and I fell in love as well But I probably won't be able to afford one of those, besides, a maxima is more practical.. cheaper to repair, FWD, etc..

and no chirp for you because of HLSD maybe.

i chirped 3-4 one day. LIGHT drizzle, full wide open merging on the mass pike, shifted, didn't hear much of a noise a little, but the wheel went limp for a sec and i got all exctied i called someone.

I agree with Steve.
I like 2002 Maxima, but they should have fixed the problems, rattles 2000 Maxima had. But nooo, my 2002 has the same rattles. Suspension still sucks, but that has to do with stupid rear beam.
For the price we pay for it, I was expecting much better build quality. oh yeah, fogot the paint too. I have chips already, car is not even three months old

No rattles, the piant still looks perfect and after learning the notchy shifter I almost never get stuck on my 2-3 shift. Nothing but happy feeling over here

Steve I chirped 4th gear the other day too! It was in the 30's out side and my kumho's were ice cold. I stoped at a stop side and went WOT from 1st threw 4th, what a rush!

Newman, if you want some practice shifting just do it with your car off and parked, you will eventualy learn how the 2-3 shift works. If you want to chirp 3rd you have to really know how to shift and floor it fast, eventualy it just becomes one smooth motion.

Dude 02's rock. I'm driving to work and I see an old couple pull in to their house with a new 02. I started grunting and whining, all involuntary ofcourse, after a while I just started flooring it. I had to do something to keep me from crying. Peace.

Not a bad strategy, but would you really want a 2k2 2 years from now? Because of the looks I don't want it now for even 20k. You can buy alot of car today for 20 grand. Last time I sat in the 6-spd I really didn't like the interior at all, it was cloth and I couldn't believe how little support those seats provided.

Your strategy does work with Nissans, but it DOES NOT work with certain desirable cars like BMW. As I posted before at 4 years old the 528i has a higher or equal residual than a Maxima at 2 years. I wouldn't want a 1998 528i, too high mileage, and the price has barely budged!!

What I can't understand are those who had 3 maximas in 1 or 2 years. If you have that much money to waste, why not apply it to an A4 or A6 or 530i? Why are you burning up your pocket on a Maxima?

BMW sucks Nissan rocks! End of story. BMW's have their broblems also. My friends 2k2 525i lights keep burning out, front brake hoses were replaced its car with 18K miles and the service wasnt the best either. So go ahead Steve get yourself a WRX and dont forget your AAA card.

Nah, IMHO you're not being objective. It's so difficult to explain when you don't care about money. Like a mutual fund, you wanna pay a service fee up-front, at the back-end, or no-load? Money is cheddar dude. No-load = higher expenses. That's what the Maxima is--lower price, higher depreciation, higher operating costs due to disproportionate depreciation.

Like buying a small house in a better neighborhood--sometimes it makes more sense. Some people like to slum it with lower initial costs, lower property taxes, but inability to resell.

Two of my close friends drive both the 328i and 530i. Both have had zero problems in 1 1/2 years on the road (over 2 on the 328). My friend with the 323i had his a/c replaced so yes, that su****. But no other probs. That 525i you mentiong is a lemon for sure and your friend got burned, doesn't make them all so.

Your "BMW sucks Nissan rocks" conclusion is not credible without much evidence.
Also, you're in denial, which is a very bad thing.
Oh, and I'm not even kidding, Val.

i highly doubt that. a fully loaded max (without nav) stickers at $30,800. with navigation its well on its way to $32,000 or even past it. invoice is around $26,000. there's no way you can get a new maxima $5000 under invoice.

p.s., we have the same birthday

He may have just meant 2k2 Auto. But the seats are really weak, and the car is not up to snuff for 30.8k, let's be serious here.

21k for a 2k2 stripped, I'll pass. Nissan prices have always been artificial, a matter of how willing you are to go into holdback. Those who don't lose big-time. None of us really care about invoice anymore, that was maybe in the 80's when we were in junior high and the internet wasn't around.

If I have some money then I would buy a car with mid/high miles. If I have more money I will buy a car with low miles. If I have tons of money then I will buy a new car. If your a mid income person then there is no reason to get a new car cause it looses value soonest it hits the road. I wont buy the max new cause I can get a better deal in 1-2 years and still have a fresh car. I wont barry my self in payment just cause BMWs interior is better. I rather drive the hell out my car for 100K and have a rattle in my interior and not worry about problems. I dont flame BMW cause they are great cars if you can afford it. I drove lots of cars and for my budget I would go with nissan. No car is perfect its all about money. And about the denial part 530i loaded is about 40 grand and runs like 15s. Maxima for 30 grand loaded that runs 14s and offers all the options that people need. Yes the interior is cheaper but dont forget its 10 grand less. My car has no rattles and 97 suppose to be the worst year made. Im with nissan unless I get a better job then I will go for infinity

Who cares what it runs? People don't buy 5-series for drag racing purposes. If you're planning to race your BMW, then get an ///M.

Thinkin about my advice eh?

2k3 Cobra is supposed to be supercharged, with 390hp! My friend with a 2k1 Lightning said they are gonna up the boost on it and make them come stock with around 420HP. G35 and the new Z are gonna be almost as powerful and 5 times more refined...

Any of the 4 you listed should make you a VERY happy little boy.

yes you definetly got me thinking, i love the looks and everythign about teh lightning cept that it's still a truck and only auto. but i cna deal. i'll have to load the bed with nos tanks to weigth it down though. 420hp stock would be nice, with minor work those could have 500hp i bet, exhaust, more boost and intake. wowwwZzaaa.
