They'll consider it "within tolerances". Basically, if the hood fits on your car, it's yours. Blemishes, defects, bad fitment are all covered under that tolerance part. It's the way it is with all of the carbon fiber hood companies. Recently I sold a hood, not FI for an Integra that the body shop could not fit on no matter what they did. Plus it was too small, you could see most of the engine. I figured that it would be an open and shut case for an exchange. Boy was I ever wrong. After 6 weeks, and over 50 pictures sent to them to prove the fitment issue, they told me that the hood was within their normal tolerances and that no composite products fit perfectly. Only after I started complaining enough to affect their sales, did they agree to exchange it.

And I know of several Honda people who had terrible FI hoods and FI told them that it was normal. Unless you're buying a $1100 Spoon hood, the quality control is terrible. FI, APC, DG, TC spoilers, VIS, BodykitsNW all have the same quality control issues. It's just the nature of the product, a large piece of composite thrown into a mold.

heres the deal, i called fiberimages and talked to them, they said it is my fault cause i installed it wrong, using hoodpins is NOT an option, you have to do it. also told me theyve never had any prob with any Maxima hood, all the owners email and send pics on how they love their hood. so basically their not gonna do anything for me. this sucks. i hate fiberimages, i paid 500 bucks to get ****ed on a hood. i told Cheston to talk to them arleady and i hope you guys that have any type of prob please email, call or fax some info to them cause they dont belive me when i told them other Maxima owners had probs. Oh, the hood is for offroad use only! I was very polite with her the whole time cuase i dont belive in taking anger out on someone like that and the whole time she was hella rude and almost yelling at me....man i hate fiberimages!

please help me out...thanks

arite i just talked to the lady that u talked to hehe she knew she there was trouble when i called!! and she started taking back alota stuff that she said to you Matt... then she directed me to Albert... now what Albert says is that if you bring the car and the hood down to him (pain in the butt i know) he'll take it up to 100 miles an hour to show that it wont split (I duno if he means ur hood as is or if he 'repairs' it) and if it doest then they'll put it back on ur car and you will be a magically satisfied customer!!!

Matt I'll try to work something out with you or someway that we can get the hood or ur car back down here (you wana go to Stealin day? ) but dude this ish is homo

either way it goes you are a customer and you dont deserve to be treated rudely and if this issue doesnt get settled we will make it known to everyone out there in the market for a CF hood.

if they had read the thread entirely they would have notice one member did have their hood seperating... FiberImages replaced it
so they HAVE had these problems with the Maxima hood before.

now about us getting in touch with FI? Matt tried for 2 days (48hours) and couldnt get through, so does that mean that his complaints are not valid?
Also your voice mail box was full the last time I checked

Fiberimages,

you already changed your words. You said you spoke to another worker there and that its my fault because i didnt use hoodpins. You stated using hoodpins is NOT an option, but now are saying its recommended. question, if hoodpins is NOT an option, why do you sell it without hoodpins? why is there no premade spot for the hoodpins. i was very polite on the phone with you and the whole time you had an attitude and was PRACTICALLY yelling at me. (not actually yelling, but with a raised tone of voice) any customer that pays $500+ does not deserve how you treated me today. Not even an apology. You had told me you never heard of 1 customer having a prob. now ive showed you more then 1 customer. I have been advised take this matter to small claims court, ill see what happens in the upcoming week or so and i hope i dont have to resort to this. it would be very troublesome for me as well as you if it had to resort to this so i hope that we can come to an agreement without legal action. im very disatisfied with the product and how i was treated. Everything i have said in the earlier post is true.

ps. my name is Matthel, not Matthew. Please do not continue to type in all CAPS, it doesnt look professional and is hard to read.

Connie, I have yet to open my boxed FiberImage CF hood due to all the reported problems. I find it weird how your company cannot 'spot' these imperfections that appear in virtually 'every' hood for our 4th Generation Maximas. If it is apparent to us, I think it would be apparent to your people as well. For me, these are not a big concern as I was planning to paint my hood anyway. But now with the report of the fiberglass/carbonfiber separation, I have reservations of doing that without hoodpins (which defeats the purpose of painting the hood). I understand the 'offroad' disclaimer but you KNOW how these hoods are gonna be used. If these hoods 'shake and rattle' at street use, how well are they suppose to hold up to 'offroad use', then? I would hate see someone being hurt/killed should one of these hoods fail at some speed above Matthel's 35mph. Can these hoods be reinforced with additional material from underneath by overlapping the fiberglass and carbon fiber layers?

I hope that these issues can be resolved as my brother is also part of SoCalSupras forum and they were considering getting their hoods from you...

Thank You
Chung

Supposedly Stillen will be selling CF hoods from a different company. Maybe the quaility will be better. And if you wanna talk about fittment problem try this. I show up at my body shop with a FI CF hood and Sorona phase 2 fenders. You should of seen this thing when he installed them . Needless to say, I returned the fenders, kept the hood, and bought hood pins. I'll just have to live with the p/s gap and bulge. I'm on the east coast, and its not that bad were I can't live with it.
One other thing that I must say. I ordered my hood when I had my accident and the body shop needed it right away. I called and talked to Connie and told her my situation and she put a rush on my order, and got my hood made and shipped pretty quickly. She 2day aired it and called me the day it shipped and gave me the track #. She was very polite and didn't get angry with my constant calls. I believe they are a kinda new, family based bussiness and I hope they work all this out cause they do offer products that arn't readilly available for our cars.

I'm not here to hate on you FI, I just want you to fix Matts hood or find someway to make YOUR customer satisfied, if you cant offer some kind of solution to Matt, we will ALL be wary of doing business with you guys again. I was heated about the whole thing because on the phone you ****ed Matt around, if you didnt 'know' of any problems with the Maxima hood then I called you up and reminded you

I have the hood to and if mine flipped up, damaged my fenders and my windshield, the least you could do is fix the problem with the hood if not pay for the rest of the damages, and instead of defending you actions or make excuses, on the forum give Matt a solution to his problem and make the rest of us customers feel comfortable with your customer support!!
And please be more polite when addressing potential problems with your hoods, attitude dont cut it and the situation can get very ugly- the way you spoke to Matt was inappropriate.

I'd be with Chung about offering fiberglass reinforcement of the frame just to give us that added piece of mind.

btw any personal issues you have with me or what I have said feel free to PM me or call me (you have my number )
