I was routinely entering the Memphis Autobahn today when a guy in an S2000 abruptly changed lanes (out of the center lane and into the right lane) right in front of me. His action, completed neither with a look nor a turn signal, caused me to adjust both my steering and my throttle to avoid a collision. It was almost as if he was totally oblivious of my presence. (I guess his HUGE aluminum wing must have blocked his rearward view.) I was not happy, but I changed into the center lane and drove past him without so much as a sideways glance. I was going to let it go...

Seconds later, Mr. S2000 zooms by me at speed on the inside, shooting a gap between me and another car in the center lane that shouldered me aside. I flinched at another close call!

It was time to downshift and go on a Honda hunt. I overtook him in no time, slowing to keep position with him just off his left rear bumper in an adjacent lane. About that time, I noticed he had a buddy in the passenger seat. His buddy looked around, apparently expecting me to be somewhere further back. He got a shocked look on his face as he spotted me just off their rear bumper. ("Oh, ****. There he is!")

The driver punched it, and so did I. I passed him at about 110-mph, pulling on him hard in 4th gear. As I overtook him, I shifted into 5th, at which point he seemed to take his foot out of the gas. With a little breathing room between us, I coasted back down to the posted speed limit. Mr. S2000 remained behind me, and well back, with no further incident.

Strange... I don't recall installing a spanking tool on my Maxima, but it seemed to work pretty well this afternoon!
