I have betrayed you.. forgive me *screams*

Well i was almost positive i was getting a Maxima but i got back from school today and there's a shiny Toyota Camry 4 banger sitting in the drive.

I love the maxima more than any car i have driven, but i must follow what is given, as i will not interfere with my destiny.

I can promise though, my next car will be a Maxima, i will get vengeance on my father :P

I will still come here, my love for the Maxima is great, but for now i say goodbye, as i begin to mod this queer 4cyl auto 1999 camry :P
- the one plus is it has full tinted windows.

Thanks for the few days, and maybe i shall return to you in the next life.

Enjoy the independent rear suspension, the non-peeling paint, the non rattling interior with it, and the doors that close well, the quiet and refined ride, cuz you wont get any of those with a max.

Turbos were never an option on the Camry line just as USA Maximas never had them. But that doesn't mean that they don't exist.

Seen? No. Heard and read? Yes. And the shop that does offer the turbo kits for at least the older Camrys are about 1/2 hour south of me.

I have, they swapped out a 3s-gte motor (the Celica turbo alltrac motor and MR2 motor) into a 2nd gen (87-91) Camry AllTrac. Imagine that as a sleeper! I was gonna do this swap too, but then I bought the maxima. I actually was gonna turbo charge the existing motor (I had the manifold and a Garrett T3 turbo in my hands) as well but that was an economy car. It wouldnt have been any faster then the maxima is.

someone here is ... I wonder who that could be?

Camry's are decent cars, if not terribly comfy or fun. The brand new design is......interesting anyway. I had an 85 camry back in the day that was a DOG, but that was ... yeah an 85 lol!

UPDATE: well my dad said i can sell his 98 Ford Contour SVT and use the money from that to buy whatever i want, and he will take the camry.

Not sure, should be able to get 10k , but probably less (due to scratches, bumps, etc.

I am fine with an auto or manual max, i love the car, i just dont know if i want to have double the miles (over 38K on my camry)

A nicer car, or a car that will last longer.
I love the Max, just not sure (80k vs 39)

O well, what do u guys think>

why go through of the trouble of buying another car. just keep the camry or contour. theyre both real nice cars for a 16 yr old. you have plenty of time ahead of you to own a max.

Selling a 98 Contour SVT to get an older Maxima?

Just trade cars with your father. The SVT will give you more fun than the Camry.

keep the contour, SC it, then sell it after it falls apart (probably won't be long, but at least the SVT's are a little better than the others).

LOL at the bits of pillow!

Keep the SVT - they're pretty sweet.. I had the SE V-6 and kicked myself for not speding the extra $$ to get the SVT... Oh, wait, the SE fell apart before my eyes, so that much less I wasted ... But it was all stuff that was different on the SVT - brakes/rotors especially... the power steering that went was probably the same though... So, I'd say if the SVT is not one of the lemons, cause I guess there were actually some good Contours out there, keep it - they're quick, handle very well, and are easy to mod...

yes, anything is better than an auto 4 cylinder (and like you my friend, my car was free, as in i didn't pay for, drove a new maxima for a year and a half, now i have a new civic, sure its an auto, but you get a car from your parents for free, KEEP IT! wait until you can actually afford a new car, if your parents are providing for you, take it, pay them back for there help later on in life.) just my $0.02.

Is this a joke? My GRANDMOTHER has a 93 Camry GLE and I can run faster than it. And as far as Toyota quality goes, it threw a rod at 60000 miles and had to have its engine replaced. And my grandmother drives slow.

Yeah, you're right. Its just that everyone holds up Toyota and Honda as bulletproof, but engine failures and other major things do happen to them too.

i dont mean its like as powerful as an LS400. its just got some good styling cues. my mom has babied this car and its got some *****. its a v6, i didnt think they had a GLE. is it 4 cyl? but the camry in 93 was the first american build camry, and it was very well built. IMO

Isn't it actually like a little ES300?

I don't know why everyone says that Honda and Toyota quality are so perfect. My integra developed rattles like any other car. Very few Civics feel amazingly solid. My grandmother's Camry ('99) has had its fair share of engine problems. That's not to say that they're build quality isn't very very very good, but it's not perfect. And it's not loads better than Nissan or any other other japanese car company. If you ask me, it's just the whole "the grass is always greener..." thing.

Anyway, congrats on getting a car. There's nothing wrong with Camrys and it's definetly cool that your parents bought it for you. Enjoy it.
