A big part of that would be headlights alone running you almost 3K. Plus airbags are like 700 each from there.

It all adds up fast huh?

Great Gobs of Goose **** ~!~!~!~!~!

$9700, man I hope you cut that deer up and sold that meat for $8/lbs.

$9700 in damage on my 4th gen looked alot worse than $9700 on a 2K2.

Glad you're ok, and your baby will be back on the road, again.

Yeah, body work is horribly expensive, but the insurance is paying for it all. The headlights look fine in the picture. And one thing I though Maximas had was side airbags, why doesn't it have those?

Whoa. Nice. That's a good sum of money. Told yah the damages would be in the upper 4-digits! Make you get your share from it too.

DO NOT GIVE IT ALL TO THE BODYSHOP... NEVER!!!

Impact was from the front only, therefore no need to deploy the sides?

I am kinda confused about something... Isn't it so that an airbag doesn't deploy if you are not wearing your seatbelt (from what I've heard). So why did the passenager airbag deployed too? (There wasn't even anyone sitting there anyway, I think?).

'Can't this cause a serious neck injury (Possibly break it?). So what I've heard is wrong or...?

This quote sounds right. . . At least the front windshield didn't get any damage, that would have upped it another $1000 easily. Hopefully they can get the parts in a decent amount of time, seeing as how the car is still relatively new. Good luck with everything. BTW do you have rental coverage?

if i'm not mistaken, that's only for the side airbags...where there is a sensor where if you're sitting in a certain position, it won't deploy the sides...i could be wrong...

OE parts retail + knowing how to do body work = excellent salary P/T @ Body Shop - Shop Owner's "fees"

it doesnt matter if a person has their seat belt on or not. side airbags go off if the sensor detects it or whatever. when i got hit from the side, i had no passenger sitting next to me and the pasenger side airbag went off and mine didnt. i think its all about the sensors..

Would that be worth fixing? That's an awful lot of damage. Just think the body shop cannot assemble the car to the standards of the factory. There is a lot of wiggle-room for them to bump up their margin. If you can get replacement cost that would be better IMHO. But good luck, hope you get back on the road ASAP.

Re: Re: Deer damage update: $9700

$ isnt an issue. we have a $100 deductible and insurance is going to cover the rest. so it doesnt matter if it was $4000 or $10,000.

i cant get anything extra out of this. the body shop that the car is at has a good relationship with Allstate (my insurance company) so Allstate doesnt send out a rep. that just take the body shop's word for it and accept the estimate. they cut a check for the exact amount that the body shop charges, no questions. no big deal.

someone said the headlights looked fine in the pictures...they werent totally busted but the parts that connect them to the car snapped. i dont think they are only replacing part of the headlight.

they tell me i should have the car back in 2 or 3 weeks.

They say they have a relationship with Allstate, but, even though they are an approved shop that Allstate typically does that with, it doesn't mean that they never have reps sent out to check on the value estimated. My shop said the same thing, but they sent out an adjustor to check on if my bumper really needed replacement or if it could be resurfaced. . . They ended up resurfacing it. Because of that my car was in the shop an extra week. I wasn't happy at all.

Allstate offers you the option to take it where ever you wish, but they have preferred shops that don't require an adjustor to agree to estimates before work is done. It all depends on how quick you want your car back, and how much you trust the shops avail. I know the place I took mine to works with my company all the time so I knew I would get hooked up on service and such, so I went ahead used them. Still took a month though, even though they were a preferred shop.

I just checked Edmunds.com, and it says side air bags on 2002 SE are optional, now how do I know if I have side air bag or not?

Of course it's a good relationship, it's a business one, pre-arranged. Just like managed care health. If you've ever seen and HMO statement it'll say billed amount, $400, allowed amount, $125, member responsibility, $10. This is not a bill. The provider has agreed not to bill the difference.

If you think your insurance or health plan got $400 worth of work for $125, you'd have to be born yesterday. The $125 is a contractual amount that was agreed to ahead of time. In taking less, the provider is counting on higher volume to ensure profitability. Human nature being what it is, they do less of a job as well. Sometimes it's better to pay out-of-pocket because you get what you pay for. I found that out when I needed knee surgery due to a rough hockey season. Of course my HMO is not gonna cover the best Center City orthopaedics, it's gonnna provide me with a foreign surgeon who's contracted to take less. Is your body worth an extra $2000? It's a personal decision.

i think you only have side air bags if you also got Meridian but i could be mistaken.
check by the left shoulder of the driver's seat or by the right shoulder of the passenger seat. if you have the side air bags then there should be a little tag sticking out that says "SRS Airbag" or something like that. it is the exact same kind of tag that is on the headrest that says "active headrest"

My dad's best friend had his BRAND NEW '02 Q45 for ONE WEEK...and some 16 year old who'd had his license for 3 hours T-boned him in an intersection....$32,000 in damage!!!! The car was out for 2.5 months becuase it was so new, (this was last fall) they had to get all the parts directly from Japan....now that SUCKS!!!!

Daymn. So sorry to hear/read about your ordeal.. it's insane. I'm still paying off my accident-related repair fees to this day. I'm just glad you're alright and insurance is covering your repairs. Good luck. AnGe
