OH YEA......I love ford quality.

As per the abc news this am.

Ford's new escape is being held on the lot right now. You can't buy one or even test drive em. WHY? Cuz there is yet another safety recall. This time its the wipers. This is the 5th safety recall since this POS was relased like what...5 months ago?

ALSO....I'm not even gonna tell you the problems we just went through with my dads 97T-bird V6....i don't have the time.

Ford outfitters...no boundries. UH YEA....its bounded by the parking lot

OK so Ford has had some problems, but I think you can say that about all the Big 3 auto makers. I general, I think the foreign cars hold up better especially under "spirited" driving. I've had company cars that were domsetic and here are the list of problems: 1993 Dodge Spirit -blown engine at 16K $3,500 fix; 1992 Ford Tempo, broke both engine mounts and engine fell out- $750 fix (I think), 1994 Chevy COrsica-Seat broke, computer problems, 1989 Cadillas Seville STS-dropped tranny at 48K; 1993 Mustang 5.0 COnvertible-new struts brakes at 24K,plus auto tranny had problems.

I've had 1989 Honda Accord, 1984/7/9/92 Sentras, 1994 Honda Accord, 1995 Maxima, 1999 Maxima and all have had no problems (except O2 sensor in 95 Max).

Sure wish our ole union boys could build a quality vehicle. Seems when the Japanese start having their cars built by our guys, the quality drops a little.

While I agree with you for the most part, I wonder if it is build quality or design quality when it comes to certain problems. If an engine blows or tranny fails, it seems like these would be design flaws. If the door handle pops out when you go to open the door, I would attribute that to how well the part was installed. Union workers can't be blamed if the engine was a POS before it was even installed in the car.

My family always had ford Crown Victorias as company cars growing up. The only one we ever had problems with was the last one, it was a 93. It's TCM was forever on the blink and the rear air suspension was all out of whack too.

The 2000+ Maxima is no gem either. Check out the 5th gen forum for numerous problems. Trannies failing, TCM replacements, warped brakes, trunk lid scratching bumpers, etc. I don't think I'm buying Nissan again. I've had little problems with my (wifes) '96 Ford Taurus. My next car will probably be German or possibly a Suburu. I hate Toyota design and think Honda is too boring. I like Nissan design, but the reliablity is not there.

Hmmm, my second car was a domestic. Pontiac Parisienne, basically the twin of the Caprice Classic. I had it for 60K and sold it with 161K on it. No problems. It had the original tranny, and all I did was regular maint.

I didn't exactly baby the thing either....

FORD - Fix Or Repair Daily

My grandfather finaly got rid of his 95 Taurus which had only 30K, and still it was falling apart. Now he drives '00 Avalon, a nice car btw.
My uncle thinks there is no better car than Ford, he owns 3 of them, and all POS. I can't even look at them, get sick right away.

FORD - Formerly On Road - Degraded

I really don't like Ford/Lincoln/Mercury (the newer ones, anyway). I've driven many, since my family seems to love them. Someone in my family at one time or another has had the following: Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Town Car, Expedition, Mountaineer, Mustang, Capri, F150, Tempo, Cougar, Windstar.

I've driven most of those. Ford design seems to favor overpowered steering, touchy and/or mushy brakes, extreme clutch action (either WAY too heavy or WAY too light), and suspensions that make the vehicles feel topheavy.

I've considered buy them in the past, but I almost always find something that fits me better in a different brand.

I equate them to the Microsoft of the auto world -- the company is so big that people buy them just on the name, weather problems exist or not. Lemmings.

Disclaimer: For those of you who have bought any of these cars and enjoy them, have at it. This is just one person's OPINION.

FORD - Fixed Or Repaired Dodge
****ed On Race Day

My company has had numerous Ford Taurus as company cars & I can't figure out why the company keeps buying them??? Our Lawyers drive them & maybe that explains whey they always look beat up. But as far as mechanics goes..there is always something wrong with them. On one of them ('98) the tranny got replaced at 20K miles and a few of the others have had trannys replaced as well..

what would you "pick up'?

my 98 Ford F 150 extenda-cab short box 4X4 with the 4.6 litre V8 has been problem free, and has a quieter, smoother ride than most automobiles. Works like a charm. I'm not so sure I would spend an extra $10,000 for the Toyota version.
I am not to keen on German cars even though I AM of German background, and thats ALL my parents ever owned, (besides a 66 Mustang with a 289 V8 3speed) Unfortunately aside from the impressive interiors that they are coming up with now, Audi,BMW, VW and Mercedes still have reliability problems, especially in the electricals. Audi is just starting to make a mild recovery after 2 decades of building junk. The V-Dubs are great till the warranty expires...then you can expect to start replacing everything. It's weird...when VW opened up a plant to build the Rabbit in the U.S. in the 80's,the quality went down significantly. When Honda started building cars and Goldwings in the U.S., quality was not compromised. Even the made in Indiana Outback is one tightly assembled set of wheels. the Mercedes built in the U.S. has suffered in build quality though. It's great to see an American design influence in cars like the Miata and the Maxima

I have had 2 entirely different experiences with the 2 fords i have owned. The first was with a 89 5.0LX, This was the best car I ever could ask for. I beat it every day (hard) drag raced it, road raced and of course street raced it.I bought it with 65kmi and the only problem I ever had with it besides normal brakes, clutch etc was at about 130kmi was a blown head gasket the car was totaled with over 200kmi and still ran low 13,s @106mph in the 1/4. never used any oil. The second was a 96 5.0 explorer, that was crap with only 25kmi the engine knocked and ford didnt care, I sold it and bought my 96se which I love but its not perfect. Everyone has different experiences.

c'mon..you guys forgot..
FORD - Fast Only Rolling Downhill

i think it's more design of the car and how some of the parts are now made in mexico and canada..no offense to anyone out there. the mexican work labor is cheaper and tends to be lower in build quality. all that NAFTA business a few yrs back..::sigh::
while saturns are all build in the US they seem to suffer less reliability probs compared to some GM cars.
