There seems to be somewhat of a discrepancy in gas mileage when measure by the tank (eg 350 miles per tank/fill up).

As far as I know they are all the same. Discrepancy in mileage could be from auto or manula tranny and driving style. My car gets 400 or so around town and up to 500 per tank on the hwy (it's a 5 speed).

No. All 4th and current 5th gen fuel tanks are 18.5 US gallons. >>

I get about the same mileage as you do...and my '97 is an auto tranny...it's driving style...I drive with my brain and foot...not my *****...plus I practice the art of minimizing the use of my brakes.

Hmm...I'm sure that driving style is a factor. Are you suggesting that I drive with my *****? j/k

Wish I could drive with my *****, I'd be multitalented. Then I wouldn't need to heel toe the pedals, I'd have I extremity for each. :-)

I guess it depends on how low you let your tank go. The most I've ever filled up is about 14.5 gallons, but usually it takes around 13 1/2 gallons to fill up. I get about 300 miles between fill ups, so that's about 22mpg (not bad for around town). I've gotten over 26 mpg when I went to AC and I was doing about 80 - 90 most of the way.

1. Fill up tank.
2. Reset trip odometer.
3. Drive.
4. Repeat #3 until you're on E.
5. Fill up again, note number of gallons it took.
6. Take mileage off odometer, divide by number of gallons, and, voila! miles per gallon.

I'm getting around 22-23 mpg with mostly in-town driving.
