No. All 4th and current 5th gen fuel tanks are 18.5 US gallons. >>
I get about the same mileage as you do...and my '97 is an auto tranny...it's driving style...I drive with my brain and foot...not my *****...plus I practice the art of minimizing the use of my brakes.

2. Reset trip odometer.
3. Drive.
4. Repeat #3 until you're on E.
5. Fill up again, note number of gallons it took.
6. Take mileage off odometer, divide by number of gallons, and, voila! miles per gallon.
I'm getting around 22-23 mpg with mostly in-town driving.
