spark plug change...

OK, i just got my order of NGK plat spark plugs. This is my first time changing them. I have the haynes manual and have the links to the how-to sites on this. I was wondering what anti-seize was... wuts its purpose and where could I get this. Is there a certain type i need to get or is it all the same for any car/spark plug or wutever.

New Permatex® Copper Anti-Seize features copper and graphite suspended in a premium-quality grease. It is formulated to protect metal parts from rust, corrosion, galling and seizing up to 1800º F.

This is what I use for everything but there are many different kinds, just like sparkplugs. You pays your nickel and you takes your chances. One place I really ensure it gets used in on all the exhaust, manifold nuts and studs. Every time I remove a screw or nut or bolt on my Max I put it on, especially if you are in a salt/rust environment.

Caution: Apply just enough to coat the threads. Anti-sieze that gets into your combustion might damage your oxygen sensors.

I have been using Permatex Anti - Seize Lubricant 133A on all my plugs for over 10 years. Just make sure you only torque plugs to 15 ft/lbs. when using an Anti - Seize Lubricant. I also use GE Silicone Spark Plug Boot Release on the spark plug cover. I put it on the rubber that seals the top of the plug and also where the cover seals on the valve cover.
