Getting better gas mileage now

A while ago I thought that the idle at around 600 RPM was a bit too low so I decided to bump it up to about 1,000 RPM. It was better but I constantly got about 275 miles to the tank (300 miles if I stretched it using up 15 gallons). I was getting pretty what I thought to be pretty good gas mileage out of my SC'ed Maxima for a while and I decided to try lowering the idle. The raised idle seemed to make shifting from P to my drive gears a bit more harsh. I lowered my idle back down to 600 RPM's and I noticed that my gas mileage significantly increased on my next fill up. I got 360 miles on the tank (had about 1/4 tank left (using up 14.5 gallons)!

I never let the fuel light come on and that is my usual filling time. I went from:

20MPG (getting 300 miles to the tank using 14.5-15 gallons)
to
24MPG (getting 360 miles to the tanke using 14.5-15 gallons)

So if you guys are getting low gas mileage out of your cars and you have raised your idle, it might be worth lowering it to raise your MPG.

Thought you all would like to know.

Nah, my car has always been running at a higher idle since I put on my SC last year and giving me consistent 275 miles to the tank at 1/4 left. I only started to get better gas mileage when I lowered the idle just recently.
