Good race, but almost killed... (just venting)

I meant to post this earlier (it actually happened yesterday), but I kept forgetting...

I was coming home around 7 PM last night on the highway, cruising at around 80mph. The road was fairly clear of traffic until I see a car coming up behind me FAST. I was going to pull into the right lane to let him by, but before I got a chance he zooms over and starts pulling up to pass me on the right (even though I already had my turn signal on). Stuff like that ****es me off. As he's coming up on the side of me I can see it's a white integra (looked almost exactly like my old car). He slowed down next to me and was driving right alongside me for a few seconds. Then he floored it. The car sounded awfully loud, so he probably had exhaust and maybe something else.

So I turned off overdrive and floored it. I started pulling up behind him pretty fast and had him by a few car lengths by the time we were up around 110. I kept going until I hit 125. There was some traffic ahead of me so I started getting nervous. I flashed my hazards to let him know I was done, got into the right lane, and slowed back down to a reasonable speed. At this point I'm not very far behind the car in front of me (maybe a few car lengths?) and traffic in the left lane was moving at about the same speed. I looked in my side view mirror and I see the guy in the Integra come barrelling up behind me going just as fast as he was before, zoomed around me without signalling into the left lane, and then tried to cut me off.. but he cut into my lane too close, forcing me to swerve over onto the soft shoulder and let him by.

...argh!!!

This is the second time that someone elses idiocy has almost killed me since I've had this car.

they are just jealous of how beautiful and great our car's are so they feel they have to try and destroy them... or at least that is waht i tell myself since i had this neon do a similar thing but in traffic...

needless to say i cut into the lane next to me where there was room for one car then back into high lane with just enough room to make it (i mean by inches) the neon tried to follow me and got T-BONED instead... (kinda like below i was the second car in the left lane... went into right then back into left and the neon is the 3rd inthe left and followed but hot hit by the first car in the left lane and then again by the 2nd car in the right lane)

all of this not from a race but cause he wanted to race and i didn't he had his hi's on behind me so i moved over and he followed and got creamed!!

so that is why i say it is cause they are jealous!

Who's the bigger fool? The fool, or the fool who follows?

You complain about this guy as if you had nothing to do with elevating his level of stupidity.

Hey there, smarta$$, WTF are you rolling your eyes at? I'm not here preaching about the dangers of street racing. We all know that violin doesn't need to be played. But, don't sit there and patronize me about this whiner that his instigating potential caused something stupid. If you can't take the heat, then get the ***** out of the kitchen. If you don't want to risk getting run off the road, then don't ***** with the guy in the first place.

So I should assume that every other driver on the road is a complete idiot and lacks even the slightest ability to actually drive his car? Well, to be honest, I already assume that. On the other hand, I'd also assume that all it takes is common sense to realize that it's time to slow down and cool off when there's dense traffic ahead. And considering that this guy was more than willing to try to pass me out at high speed when I'm already doing 80 and cut me off even when I already had my signal on to get out of his way (all before I had done ANYTHING to instigate him) I don't think you can really blame me for his stupidity.

And, once again, we were driving down an emtpy, very straight, very long stretch of road at a time when it was still light enough to clearly see that there were not any cars in the immediate area. It was about as safe a road stretch as you could ask for. Was it still a risky/dangerous/stupid thing to do? Yeah, probably.. but I accept that. Just like I accept it every other time that I speed or do something to put myself at risk. It's no excuse for the person in the other car to put others at risk.

By saying that I'm complaining about something that I caused is like saying it's alright to lose all common sense and intelligence just because of a bit of adrenaline and excitement.

Like someone else said - know your limits. I knew my limits, which is why I had had enough and backed off. This guy clearly didn't - don't blame me for that.
