how much would you ask junk yard for conversion parts?
i contacted this junkyard in upper new york that has transmission for 750 with 62,000 miles which is like a rip off cause i seen another trans with 54,000 miles for the same price....the only reason i am thinking of dealing with them is because they have everything i need except the drive shafts (not abs)....but they saying 1150 for whole combination...i hope they didn't add in their clutch, cylinders, starter into the price because i don't need those parts from them...
i'm ready to call them back and bargain but i don't know how and i want to knokw what's reasonable to ask for....say 950 for everything with trans? should i bring up the fact that there's a trans in my own state selling for same price with less mileage? or is 1150 good for all that...that's everything i need for conversion except drive shafts but i don't need all that cause i plan to get parts brand new....someone let me know...thanks

$750 is still pretty cheap for a tranny.
I got to buy one for $1400 last week.
then again, it was a reman unit and has LSD already..
but even if they sold you the trany for $750, they can't rightfully ask $400 for the rest of the stuff needed.. hell, it's only a pedal, some hydraulics, and a flywheel.
you can buy most of that stuff new for that price.
offer them $950- and be prepared to walk in with cash. it speaks louder than credit cards and checks.

he said it was 1150 after tax and shipping...so i'm really paying 250 for extra parts and he's giving me clutch and cylinders and everything....things i don't need since i'm buying some stuff brand new...oh well, what can i say? i should be able to sell the clutch and stuff right? cylinders and all to a junk yard? starter? all that stuff that i dont' need...i think it's a descent deal....
it's eitehr that or paying like 500 to 600 for all parts brand new and getting a trans with 79,000 miles for 560 after shipping....plus act clutch kit for 350....hmmm
560+600+200+350=1600 <= everything BRAND new
vs.
750+250+150+350+100+250=1800 <= used parts BUT extra clutch kit, extra cylinders and extra starter (parts i can sell for probably 200 max?)
which way would you guys go? i think everything new is the way to go.....
