Tips for waxing.

My car had some tree sap on the bumper, and that crap just wouldn't come out. Had to get out some scratch/bug and tar remover to take it off, and what do you know it seems to have scratched up the bumper in the process, damnit my new paint job! Well I am overdue for waxing my car anyways so I had my dad go out and pickup a buffer. We got a Craftsman 10 in Buffer/Polisher "2400 Random Orbits per minute-3200 RPM" only $40, not the best out there but it looks like it should more then fit my needs. Applicator covers, terry cloth for removal, and a polishing bonnet. Any tips for using this? I'm gonna bust it out this week when I got good weather. Might try it out on my dad's RX300 first in case I mess up, lol it's funny I always use his Lexus as the test dummy over my 91 Maxima, sucks for him.

Think this will get rid of the scratches from the [irony] scratch remover?

Thanks,
PJ

In my experience it was hard to get an even coat of wax on each section...it was difficult to not make it too thick, which made it hard to take off. I might recommend still applying by hand, and using the buffer to remove the wax. It's really, really easy to use for removing the wax - shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

I got a 6" orbital ... I know it sounds small but I've got enough problems reaching tight spots (can't imagine it being easier with a 10").

Don't push down as shane said, let it glide.

Don't overdo the wax paste ... if you put too thick of a layer, it'll dry and get really hard to take off.

Don't do it in the sun.

Don'y get lazy and start slacking off towards the end (I always seem to do that)

I take over 1 hour to wax my car ... I also wax my hood twice because I've noticed the hood starts to go first ... engine heat I'm assuming.
