Well last night after meeting up with one of my friends thats on the Altima board. We ended up driving down 75S toward Clayton county. When all of sounded I see some very bright Azz lights coming quickly behind us. I'm following behind the Altima cause he got radar, so i'll let him lead. Anyways I noticed its a Eagle Talon thats riding side by side with me. At first I laugh, But then notice he is turbo charged.. Got to love that blow off valve!.
Were doing about 75-80mph. I really didn't want to race anybody especially someone that is turbo charged, But is late and what the hell. I rev to him to let him know its on. And away we go! I down shift from 5th to 4th and we are flying. Felt like we reached 110mph in no time...""My car was having one of those rare fast nights"" He starts to pull on my ever so slightly. Ended up about a half doors length ahead of me.
I know now for some he isn't as fast as I thought he'd be. He has some great excelleration but didn't seem to have top end. Seemed like his car bogged down at 120mph.
So now that I know this. I'm like ok lets try this again. But this time I'll drop to 3rd instead of 4th. Totally different out come. I end up pulling on him hard. At 125mph i'm about 2 car lengths ahead of him

God I love that Maxima 3rd gear power.

I guess he gets tired of me. And decides to play w/ my friend in his Altima. I'm think the Altima is going to get toasted cause he's on some bad motor mounts. The line up and i'm like a few feet away from the Altima's rear. Bam there gone, Talon takes the early lead, but then the Altima reverses thing on him and pulls away.. I'm laughing my *** off cause all I hear is this guys Blow off hissin away. Like I said he must not have any top end what so ever..
We ended up going back and forth like this for about 25miles before we hit our exit...

Anyways its was great fun, great racing, Especially cause no traffic for miles.. That Talon did surprise me. I need to get my Ypipe installed before I do any more playing around like that. Just thought i'd share this w/ the rest of you guys.

What type of mods does your Altima friend have? He must have something serious to be able to pull on a turboed Talon.

That's the thing. I dunno if his turbo was tuned right or something. But my friends Altima has CAI and a complete exhaust system. The Talon was taking him all the way up to 115mph and from there it started to bog down or so it seemed. But after 115mph Altima just walked on by...... I'd be ****ed if I was the guy with the turbo.

 

Does your friend have a 2k2 Altima 3.5 because it's hard to believe that a pre-2k2 could ever pull on a turbocharged Talon. Hell my Y2K Golf 2.slow was usually able to hang with the pre-2k2 Altima's on the top end easily, now 0-60 all I would see was tail lights. Nice kill's for the both of you though.

 

if the talon was modded on Stock turbo (t25) then it sounds right that you got him over about 100mph. The T25 turbo is a decent turbo, BUT runs out of breath on top end, i have my fairly stock I30t (intake and B-pipe, automatic) and i can kill a 2nd gen GST(eclipse) or TSI(talon), with a t25 on the interstate from about an 80 roll. we are side by side untill about 100 mph. Both of my cousins are DSM guy's and thy would always get mad about that. now with turbo upgrades and and slight internal upgrades my younger cousin is pushing 525+ hp to the wheels in his GST, now that you can't touch!

 

Yomie :It might have been a modded car on stock turbo. Still was pretty quick i'd have to admitt. I heard his blow off valve over my intake and exhaust. He had the dual gauge pod, but I think everyone is getting them now. From rolling at 60 to 100 we was pretty much even then I started pulling.

Yeah they are quick, especially the 5-speeds, i wouldn't suggest messin with a gst or definitely not a GSX from a dead stop even if they are on stock turbo's, yeah you can have lots of fun with them at higher speeds though

 

yeah i use to have lot of respect for the talons and eclpises but after beating a few turbo ones its like whatever. granted not the really built ones just the ones w/like i/e. i got josh on tape running neck and neck with a 16g 1st gen with FMIC and really cool sounding BOV down at barrett. holla.
