Oil Cooler Question
Oil Cooler Question
I had a couple of questions for you guys using the PermaCool oil coolers...
http://www.permacool.com/Catalog/Cat_page07.html
* Anyone use the kit with the filter relocation feature?
* Where do you guys mount them. Pics? Difficult to install?
* What filters do you use (not Fram I'd assume, and that's the filter number they give you). Are descent filters made in this size?
* Who uses a thermostat? Is 180F the desired temperature, or are there ones that open and close at different temperatures made?
Thanks.

Re: Oil Cooler Question
I have the basic cooler kit, no relo or thermostat. Install was pretty straight forward. You gotta be a little creative witht the hose routing. I cant remember the filter code, but I got it in a Pure One filter.
Ive got some blurry pics here...

-mounting is up to you..find a spot in the engine bay that's away from water and nothing hitting it.
-filters i believe you'll be using the filter number from a ford 5.0 engine...there's a list of filters u can use in the package. you can pretty much get any aftermarket filter u want..fram/framHP/pureone/purlator/K&N/etc etc..
-no thermstat...the only difference is you'll have the engine warm up faster..but i heard it restricts flow.
