Did you order a wheel/tire combo off the net? That sounds like one of the standard sizes I see on combos in magazines and stuff. Seems like it was for a honda or smaller car.

Not to make you mad but you have been hanging here long enough to know that 215/40 is very very small wheel overall wheel diameter. Heck I just got my wife some wheels, recommended size is 215/40 17 I went to the Konig website recommended size was 215/45 and tire was still the same price. If this Post does not convince anyone else dont buy a 17x7 wheel, get a 17x8 with a 235/45 17. Your speedometer is reading as if your speeding and your not and your putting more miles then you should on your car. Sorry I can t help you convert that with the math part, but you can get the overall tire diameters from the tire Manufacturer and it will break down how many rotations will it take to one mile to each tire size and see etc....

I got 7.5 not 7, and can i fix the odometer thing by putting different tires on? Or have the odometer re-calibrated? I dont want to put that many more miles on it?

what size are the stock tires?

yeah, difference size tires can correct any speedometer error (or most of it)

Im in the same boat with the 205-40-17s

Being a Po-Boy Modifier myself, I have the econo grade 17x7 primax 10 spoke tuners for now, but sure beats the stock 15" cookie cutters. The deal was to tempting to resist regardless of the set backs it created.

As for the spedo its consistantly off 5mph all way around and God knows how many xtra miles I accumulated on the odometer since the install. Thats the least of the worries, with the low profiles 2 of my side walls are bubbling and it is unsafe because of the wheel-tire weight ratio throwing off my stock suspension. Also, it is causing tremendous chasis vibration at high speeds 55mph+ resulting in poor alignment of wheels and brakes as well as poor handling.

However, granted my brother is Mechanical Engineer and was on SAE Formula Suspension team at WVU, he was able to figure what tire size I need to get back to the stock diameter.

235 or 225-45-17

With those and the install of Eibach Pro Kit Springs and Tockico with courtesy of Delios (Sleeper), I should be out of harms way very shortly.

Play it safe, and listen to Michelin "cause so much is riding on your tires"

The maxima has a digital speedometer, there should be an adjustment somewhere somewhere behind the instrument gauge. Maybe someone who had had their gauge set out to replace a light bulb, or install indiglo gauges can tell is where it is.
