Brands of healight bulbs--NON HID

Ok so I've got my new headlamps (I'll post pictures later)
I want to put some new bulbs in them, I don't know what is a good brand to get. I have PIAA platinums in my old headlights and they are not compatible. I dont know if I should go with hyper whites, xenon look a likes, cool blues, some kind of sylavania stars?... I don't want blue hue headlights, just bright brillaint white or maybe a purplish(real light) hues like the Audi A6...?

Re: Brands of healight bulbs--NON HID

You cannot expect to get HID-like output with regular bulbs but you can spend a fortune trying =)

Your best bet is probably PIAA plasma or xtreme white if they come in your bulb size.

If you check my homepage (2nd page), you'll see a comparison pic of Silverstars and regular halogens. It looks HID white-like but trust me, it's not. Something for you to think about when you see those pics on Ebay & think that what you see is what you get.

Photos lie.

I'm not looking to waste my money on HID's or look alikes. I just want a brilliant white with no blue hues, or just a slight red hue. I say wasting my money with HID's because everyone I know burns through bulbs or balasts on a yearly basis.

Try something like this, it may have a slight blue tint...

PIAA superwhites for the headlights, Polarg for the parking lamps, shave one nipple off the Polarg and it will be brighter

or...

PIAA xtremewhite 9004 for the headlights, PIAA xtremewhite 1156 for the parking lamps

Lost this pic...

Doubtful bulbs?

Here's a pic of Silverstars (passenger side) with Polarg clearance (not rewired):

Here's a pic of PIAA Platinum Super Whites (thanks gtr_rider):

Here's some specs I got from PIAA & Sylvania's website:
PIAA 9004 Platinum Super White = 3800K
PIAA 9004 Xtreme White = 4000K
Sylvania Silverstar = 4000K
Sylvania Silverstar
PIAA

Here's a temp chart (thanks Ludacris):

If Silverstar (4000K) has a higher temp than PIAA (3800K), shouldn't the Silverstar output be whiter (and possibly with a tint of blue?) or is someone (PIAA or Osram) lying about their bulbs?

Anyone knows?

are 9003's and H4's the same bulb? I've been looking around but I can't seem to find any H4 plugs.

yup Eurolite has these new lights out called Super Plasma which have that bright purple tint just like the HID's.. good thing about them is that they run on low wattage unlike other bulbs which you need a harness for.

I bought a pair from http://www.aieonline.com/106/cat106.htm?517

One of the best bulbs available in the H4 type is the sylvania vision plus bulbs.

http://www.autolamps-online.com/halogen/visionplus1.htm

If I could use them in my car I would switch in a second

do those have a blue-ish hue? I would prefer a redish or purple to the blue.

Yes, 9003s are the same as H4s. The 900x number is an AISI designation, while the Hx designation is used according to ECE specifications.

The best bulbs on the market (and I believe someone else already posted the link) for your headlamps (forget PIAA) is the Philips Vision Plus.

Another vote for Phillips VisionPlus. Can't beat them for $30.

Think of PIAA as something $tillen would recommend: more money for a similiar product that is the same or inferior.
