Aluminum Dash

Hi,
How many people have installed the aluminum dash kit found at custommaxima.com? If you have installed can you please tell me what you think of it? I have looked at many people that installed it and it looks kind of out of place, there are gaps and the thing isn't always straight. So if you could give me your feedback of it I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Paul

I think mine turned out pretty good. It took alot of time lining everything up. I used masking tape to put every single piece in the correct location at first. Because once you stick it on, you can not even move it even a mm. I did messed up once piece that I had to buy a replacement.

I would like a dash that would match my cd player and the aluminum dash seemed like the best match I could find. Anybody know if there are dashes out there that have a gray plastic look like those of many gray cd players and what they are called? Carbon fiber also looks kind of good but isn't a perfect match. Also if any of you have carbon fiber dashes please post the pictures, I have not seen a maxima with one before.
Thanks,
Paul

Autodash(.com) has a gallery of all kits available for the Maxima. Additionally, they also have a paintable kit for those who want a more custom look.

After I shaped all the pieces, I used masking tape to temporary hold them on dash. Then I stick one piece at a time, while the rest were still on the dash. This way you can keep the gaps evenly thru out.

what do you have to shape the pieces for? you have to bend them to fit?

No, you have to just put them on. However, you have to put them on so there wont be gaps and they are aligned straight.
Thanks,
Paul

They all basically are installed via double sided tape or glue. What Flat or Molded means is:

Flat, they just go on top of the panels w/o actually surrounding it as a whole.

Molded, they cover the flat as well as the curved parts of the panel making it look like an OEM fit. Molded is sometimes called "3D"

This is an example of a molded kit (Look at the A/C Vent area, the wood covers the entire area.

This is an example of a flat kit (You can see the sides of the A/C Vent)

Edit: Couple of better (close-up) examples.

Flat Kit vs. Molded kit

i would get the 4th gen kit if they made a 1 piece(no cut lines, im working on one), otherwise to me the kits look to tacky and look like they are buldgeing out.

Has anybody ever put the carbon fiber or colored carbon fiber dash kits in their max? I've seen the regular carbon fiber but not a color one.

Mad Dhan - contact Jeff(shadow) at ap-signworks if you want someone to produce a 1-piece kit for you. he can get it done, for a relatively decent price. sales@ap-signworks.com

We could do it easily. The only reason I haven't is because I don't want to deal with the install issues. "I put it on crooked and now I want a new kit because I messed it up" sort of issues. I deal with that enough with the multipiece kits which are very easy to install. For a 1 piece kit that's much harder to work with...

by decent would it proabably be like $50 decent or $400 decent, if the latter, i think that'll kill this project, but maybe someonelese would like to, much too much for me.
