Raced my max with my 300zx.....

Hi!

Last night I went to pick up my 300zx from the shop, and my friend helped me drive back home my max, while I drove my 300zx. As soon as we got onto the toll road we started messing around, we started to floor it at about 60 and I went all the way up to 145, I saw him shut it down at 130ish. What I was so surprised about was that the max initially pulled on me by a car length all the way up to 100, and you guys have to keep in mind that my max is an auto and has no engine mods and my 300zx is a five speed. Just wanted to share

Thanks!

Good kill... for your friend, that is!

It must suck to get beaten by your own car...

Just messing with ya! I'm guessing it's not the Twin Turbo Z?...

Yeah it is very possible the Z has more hp but less torque and weights more. When I drove the Z it felt faster probably because of the push of the rear wheel drive and the backend kick around when shifting to second. I think a Z compliments a Maxima so well in a drive way......keepin it in the family.

Maximas weigh "alot" yes and the torque curve is better on the Max. A 95-01 Max auto can hang with a 5spd non turbo 90-96 300Zx and beat an auto one from those years from those years. I have beaten several of them in my stock 97 SE up to 70 mph from a stop.

RWD doesn't necissarily have anything to do with how fast the car can "feel"...it's all about the torque, power range, weight, tranny, ect. The Maxima 5spd feels really fast off the line, but get's alot of spinnage do to the FWD.

...or at least this is what i was told when I posted about my friends '95 5spd max feeling faster than a HonDUH s2k 6spd.

Well it does feel funny to get killed by my own car

My Z is a 91 non turbo. My max has an excelent pull at about 60MPH, just didn't know it was that good

The feels alot more faster from 0 to 60MPH, but I thing the max has more toque at that specific speed, just one more reason I love my max!

i duno i drove an n/a Z and wasnt impressed at all compared to my max. it felt like a lead weight hanging on the tach. it was a 5 speed but even when flooring the tach just creeps up.

I raced a stage III TTZ tonight from ~40 to 145, and I was only about 10 cars behind when we slowed down. he was about 6 cars ahead when we started the race, as I followed him up an on-ramp.

and my brakes are much better. I waited until he was beside me (on his brakes 100%) before I smashed down on the wilwoods and dropped to 60.. he was about 10 cars ahead of me again.
