Wildwood brakes

Where can you get Wildwood brakes? I tried searching, but I'm at work and for some reason it gives me an error message.

Never mind, I finally found the posting for the group deal on Wildwood brakes, and I believe it said you need 17 inch rims and I have 16s. Does anyone know of a complete brake kit for 16 inch rims?

My recommendation is from fastbrakes.com. They have a new product:

89-99 Maxima 12.2" kit using stock calipers, $449.95

Basically you get new caliper mounting hardware to accommodate the new 12.2" rotors as opposed to the stock 10.8" rotors. Now, you keep your caliper and you use the same pads so that you maintain a "stock" compatibility while getting a rotor with more mass to dissipate heat, etc. when braking. Another big advantage is this kit was designed to fit on stock 97-99 SE 16" rims. SS Lines and pads aren't included in that price.

If you need rotors anyway, this kit is the best when keeping "stock" calipers and pads.....

Bill do you know if their kit including the 4 piston caliper will fit with 16 inch rims?

They will fit *some* 16 inch rims, but not the stock 97 to 99 SE 16 inch rims, as it was originally hoped they would.

If this helps, I am confident they will fit my Borbet Type H 16" rims, but don't know that for a certainty.

I have the 2000-1 SE stock 16 inch rims on my 96 GLE. I wonder if they have the same problem as the stock 97 to 99 SE 16 inch rims?

My bet would be they have the same fitment issues since the offset is most likely the same and the wheels are 16 x 6.5 like the 97 to 99 SE wheels....

How much would shipping be for this kit?

Hmmm, interesting alright. I wonder how much stopping power it will bring though. I could use more braking power, particularly when towing my trailer.

first thing you need to do is measure the inner diameter of your wheels.

using the superlite calipers (which are in the fastbrakes kit), you can go to wilwood's website ( www.wilwood.com ) and find the superlite calipers.. then go to the mounting dimensions link. print that page out, and it will have all the measurements you need for common size rotors...

I had to go to an 11.8" rotors to fit under my 16" wheels, but some others have been able to fit larger- just depends on the wheel itself.

Just e-mail sales@fastbrakes.com. I'm unaware of the shipping costs....

If you want to know if you will have sufficient spoke clearance with the Fastbrake kit's 4piston billet superlite calipers:

Measure the distance from the PLANE OF THE MOUNTING SURFACE (of rim) to that of the INSIDE OF THE SPOKE. You will need at least 1.6"

These rotors aren't crossed drilled or slotted are they?
