Finally installed WSP Y-Pipe and Greddy Exhaust System

WOW What a difference. It has a nice deep tone, no bee's in the can noise. Its a bit loud, getting used to it, but I love it though. I feel the gain at the top end. I'm pleased with the setup

A bit loud? That's putting it mildly. My Y-pipe with a straight-through muffler was so loud you could hear my car coming from a couple of blocks away. And the drone inside the cabin nearly drove me insane. That's why I went from a Magnaflow muffler back to an OEM rear section . . . with no perceptible loss in power, I might add.

Oh well. To each his own.

Enjoy the ride!

Whoa, James92SE. My guess is you've attended way too many really loud rock concerts. If you consider a Y-pipe and a Greddy exhaust "quieter than a mother", you need to have your hearing checked!

Ok maybe not a bit loud. The drone inside is getting to my ears, hope I get used to it. The drone is louder at lower rpm's that at higher....

Right. The drone is at its worst between 2500 to 3500 rpm, the normal range for freeway driving in 5th gear!

I'll tell you what, JerzMax. 5th Gen guys are installing catback systems and they're selling their OEM mufflers dirt cheap. Believe it or not, I've seen 5th Gen mufflers go for as little as $50.00. The 5th Gen muffler is based on a Skyline design, so you know it's efficient. And I can tell you from personal experience that a Y-pipe, aftermarket cat and 5th Gen muffler is about the perfect combination from a noise vs performance standpoint.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I dunno, all other 3rd gen guys I've talked to with the same setup all consider it pretty darn quiet. At idle all I can hear is the CAI sucking in air, and it's pretty darn quiet anywhere under about 4K RPM.

When the DRONE starts to annoy you (and your passengers) I have found a solution (I wanted to keep my greddy muffler look + good shop talk)

1. Have your muffler shop install a long resonator right after the cat

2. still loud...have them install another short 9 inch resonator after the first turn on your piping.

I have done both, it is no longer loud.
Sounds very very deep. Highway it sounds very very deep.
Drone is now a deep PURRRR. No longer RICEY.
Still a BEAST at WOT.
