Opinion about Gtech pro
I have checked mine against the clocks at the track. It is about 5-7 mph high and varies as much as .15 seconds et error both ways. I checked it in my 98 LS1 Camaro.
If you are looking for approximately it is fine. I think for repeatability it is no good. At least with mine I can't make a small change and know if I have changed anything or not. For that you must go to the track where you know the numbers are correct.
One way I have found to checked before and after is with a stop watch. You can put your car in a gear at a stead speed, hit the watch at the same time you hit the accelerator and measure time from 3000 rpm to 6000(or whatever you choose). With practice you can get almost the same every time. Make a change and do it again and you will know. Just don't try to change gears during the test as it will make you vary too much. Also test in one of the higher gears so the tach doesn't climb too fast.
