Which clutch is better?

Ok guys, I am doing the 5-speed conversion in t-minus 3 weeks and I want to just go ahead and put in a GOOD clutch. I run Nitrous so I will need a VERY GOOD clutch to take that extra power, maybe a turbo in the future.

I am deciding between the JWT Stage 2 Clutch and the ACT Clutch. I do NOT want a puck design clutch, because they are VERY difficult to drive daily. I am personally leaning towards the JWT, but I want your opinions. So, what do you all think?

I drive an auto and know little of the 5 speed but from what I hear.. do what the rest say
BTW, doesn't sprintmax run like a 100 shot and has an ACT? I'd ask him how it is and how he likes it.

I have an ACT like most people here, but I believe the JWT is rated for higher torque. If you are truly planning to go turbo and nitrous JWT would probably be the better route. ACT is just the most tried and true clutch. Turbomax95 has a JWT, but he's the only one that I can think of off the top of my head.

im having a JWT stage II installed tomorrow. i will post a follow up in about 3 weeks. however, i have driven turbo95max's car and it grabs really well. he has not dyno'd his car yet but it feels like it has a whole lot of torque(boost ) and grabs it with no problem. also, the pedal feel is like stock if not a little bit softer.

I know you guys don't wanna hear it...BUT...

My Centerforce Dual Friction is holding all 302 lb-ft Torque @ the wheels...and it's holding just fine...hasn't slipped once.
And the clutch still feels like stock.
Not to mention it costs under $225.

Maybe i'll try ACT, if this damn Centerforce ever takes a shiet.

I just put in a six puck sprung hub set up from www.clutchnet.com for $461 shipped, Sleeper turned me on to them. The first 100 miles was rough, but after the pucks seated themselves a bit its pretty smooth. I was actually driving it the other day and said to my self "wow its really smooth". The pressure plate is a modofied stock unit just like ACT or Clutch Masters use's. ACT only sells solid hub puck disc's, these are very hard on the drive line. Clutchnet and Clutch Masters uses a sprung hub on their "streetable" puck disc systems. The sprung hub on the clutch disc is very important, it is supposed to ease drive line shock. The reason I went this route is the puck disc will with stand hot lapping at the drag strip better than an organic disc, heat kills organic discs. I also got my self some slicks to try If you only have a 100 shot or low boost or dont plan to spend a day at the track hot laping, then the ACT of JWT should be just fine.

I have 150 miles left for the break in period of the six pucker, after that I will rip on it and do a more detailed post with pictures.

But overall, what "makes" a JWT Stage II better if it is?????

IIRC

Both pressure plates are about the same

ACT is both sides organic

JWT is 1/2 organic and 1/2 segmented metalic puck

Metal has a higher coeficient of friction.

So the ACT is better than the JWT Stage II????? Sorry to keep bothering you Mardigras, I just want to get the better one between the two.....

In "theory" the JWT should be better.

I've felt "sleeper"s clutch and there is no way i'd even think about buying one...the pressure is absolutely ridiculous...
I guess it's OK if you dont mind your left leg being twice the size of your right...

You felt the double diaphram pressure plate, he has since removed it for reliability reasons. I have the single diaphram, it feels the same as the ACT.
