Can you use a general carbon cleaner (carbeurator cleaner, fuel additive/gumout, etc) to clean out the throttle body, or does it specifically have to be a combustion chamber spray-type cleaner?

 

I think you are better off using a product specifically formulated for cleaning the TB. I have used several but the Valvoline SynPower TB cleaner is the best by far.

Yea, after I posted that thread yesterday and didn't hear from anyone, I decided it was safest to go out and look for a more specific TB cleaner, and I picked up the Valvoline Synpower...worked pretty well, though I didn't have as much dirt in there as some people did. Then I used the gumout-ish additive (Sea Foam auto/marine additive) in my gas afterwards. I lost the very small rumble in my idle, and in general the Max is runnin very smooth.
