maxima still does 29

I got p***-poor mileage with my reoiled K&N. So I said **** this I'm just gonna rinse it off with tap water, no reoiling BS. Just came back from a long trip and got 29 mpg highway over 520 miles. I always find that one needs to take the average over a longer distance for reliability.

My buddy's 2k1 Sentra got 36 mpg on another trip we did. He told me he uses a new air filter every 12k. Overkill? Who knows, but it does seem to keep the mpgs good on Nissans.

Another good experience with the police this holiday weekend. He did 84 km in a 50 km zone so the cop tried to pull him over. My friend thought he was Mario Andretti so he turned into a supermarket with the car totally sliding into the turn, then he ran over a curb to boot. The cop said where did you learn to drive? My buddy said in the US. SO the cop said you better be careful or nex time you're gonna get a big juicy ticket, and he let us on our way. Maybe tne NY plates in Québec so he didnt' bother????

We were talking hockey in a bar and this dude asked me why I loved the Canadian girls for the Gold but the American guys for the Gold. He said wha, you're admitting our girls are better looking? Um.....well, at least this weekend they were off the hook!!

umm...somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but in order for K&N's to work properly the oiling is absolutely necessary. Without it the filter isn't effective and it will allow smaller dust particles and crud through the filter and into your engine. Not good. I guess this would sorta be like running without an air filter halfway.

I would strongly suggest re-oiling your filter. As long as you don't over oil it you shouldn't have any problems as far as poorer mileage. After re-oiling the K&N filter I had on the CAI in my Accord V6, I still continued to get the same mileage after as I did before.

If you're seriously concerned with mileage beyond that, buy a 4-banger Accord

Yes, the K&N filters HAVE to be oiled, or you're letting all kinds of crap into your engine... Bad idea..
