I hate the spoiler on the 4th gen Maxima. Actually, I hate all spoilers on cars because I think it "spoils" the lines of the car. Anyways, I tried removing my spoiler tonight. I removed the 4 bolts from the mid mounts. I then realized the outside mounts are actually clips. SO now I'm assuming there are actually 6-8 holes that are drilled thru the deck. Am I correct. I was planning on filling the holes, but now that there might be 6-8 holes instead of 4 holes, I really don't want to bother filling all the holes.

Should I just go find a junkyard trunk lid off a black 95-96 GLE-GXE?

Okay, here's how to remove it.. from one Black 96 SE to another... =Þ

You do have the exact concept. On the 2 outside edges there are 2 clips on each side and yes, you would have to fill them in... They are small and square if I remember correctly. I had another person help me remove it so I didn't slip and scrape the shiet out of the trunk...
If you're looking at putting on another spoiler, the 2 outside ones is probably what you would use, unles you get the Type 2 spoiler
Good luck

about the spoiler..

4 bolts and 4 clips

if you want me to take a pic later and post it tommorow of a spoiler off I can do that for you..
Naa it's okay. I think I'll go to the junkyard and try and find a black trunk lid with no spoiler. Will I be the only guy with a SE and no spoiler in here?

Ok, but how do you get the clips off? Do you pull and hope they don't break? Just wondering because I am thinking of replacing my spoiler as it is really crappy and rattles really bad. . . Or maybe I could get it off and fill it with polyfil or something. . .

Nice sig Glad to see someone else is a fan of that movie. My only problem is that I have to knock out suck a long block of time to watch it. Though I did manage to get through all of Braveheart this evening (butt's a little numb, but that's what I get for liking long movies).

Spoiler Trunk holes

I put on a factory spoiler on my 95 GLE earlier this year, and I had to drill 9 holes through the trunk. 4 decent size holes for the outside clips (2 on each spoiler end), 4 mid-size holes for the bolts that hold the spoiler onto the decklid (2 on each central mount), and 1 hole for the LED wiring (located in the left central mount). The clips that hold the outboard mounts of the spoiler, they clip in from the outside of the trunk and latch underneat the trunk--what you'll need to do is push the clips from the inside before you can remove them w/o damaging your trunk. On the outboard and central mounts that hold the spoiler in place is some sort of industrial strength adhesive tape that holds the spoiler in place, so that's also a consideration to take note of also, after you've removed the 4 bolts. Nonetheless, IMO, I think the spoiler removal will be a big pain. Good luck.
