New Motor Is In!

I finally got my car back today, the new motor runs great. Actually better than my old one. It's quieter and more responsive.

I have my upper intake manifold from the old motor as well as a bunch of other stuff.

I need to decide what I'm going to do next....I REALLY REALLY want to go the FI route (S/C or Turbo) but I have that extra manifold that I could tap for a direct port nitrous system with VERY little investment. Help me out guys...what should I do next??

go with the juice. you have experience working with it, hopefully that experience will carry over to the DPI and you should have a monster setup

Start with a VI and take it from there. It's no SC or turbo or N20, but the VI will help them too if you decide you still need more power.

I ran too high fuel pressure on 95,000 mile injectors.....two of them died...and I fried two piston rings.

It's on it's way back to the place I bought the new motor from so I can get my core charge back.

I would tend to agree, to err is human but there's also an expression je me souviens. There is also something called rhetoric...

Glad the new bad-boy is in. Still can't get over how cheap VQ's are in eBay, what a joke. No wonder 2k2 SE's go for under 21k!

Re: New Motor Is In!

Man you have to go boost all the way. 550cc NISMO injectors, HKS GT3037 with the 56 trim and .82 a/r housing, stand alone management or JWT ECU, full 3in exhaust. Then you can run the direct port as a spool up assistant on slicks. Or if you go with a SC steal the SC from a mustang cobra kit, they support over 400whp too.

Good price on the motor It seems to me that for a $50 core charge you'd be better off keeping the motor. I'm sure shipping isn't cheap and you could probably sell the valve cover and intake manifold for more than $50

You gotta pay to play. That is when one upgrades to stronger axles. Shops that build racing trannys can get them.

thats what i was saying.. shoot .. i would have paid him $200 for that motor because the bottom end is still good and i could have bought pistons and rods for it and have a build motor real cheap..

the motor is still sitting at my mechanic's shop if you really want it.....but I have stripped a lot of stuff off of it to keep for the future (manifold, TB, fuel rail...lots of sensors, crank pully, etc....the motor is really stripped down as of right now...and it doesn't have a timing cover either becuase I needed my old one as the new one was dented and leaking from the accident that the replacement motor was in...

This is an easy one

BOTH! I see a bunch of people on here running turbo/SC AND nitrous. I mean you already have all the equipment for the nitrous it'd be such a loss to get rid of all that and rip out the lines and bottle from your car. I say get a supercharger/turbo (whatever fits your liking) and then just get some smaller sized jets and have a nice 50 shot or so as a nice boost when you REALLY want to play, or for at the track.
