Is it safe to secure a wheel with only 4 nuts?

On one of my wheels, a stud thread has broken off, so the wheel is held on by only 4 nuts. I dont think there is a safety problem with this, but I think it's possible to warp a rotor like this..I've been driving like this for 10 months now, and I'm feeling a lot of rotor warp lately, which could be due to having only 4 nuts

Any words?

Wow..10 months? Driving on 4 lug nuts wouldn't be a big deal for couple weeks, but for 10 months??

i remember some time back, one of my studs were messed up and i had to ride a doughnut with 4 studs and then stock wheels...never had a problem, only did it for like a good 2-3 months....it COULD be straigning the rotor but this is a first for me....

You don't have to buy a whole set. I had one stud broken on my max and it only costed me like 10 dlls to fit it, I bought the stud and the screw and had a friend help me out to do the install.

that's what I did. But only took me 2 hours. Throughly cleaned the TB, sprayed inside the intake mainfold, and a new gasket, all at the time when emax first discovered this do-it-yourself maintenance job.

The last time I got new tires/wheels, the installer noticed one of the old studs had been cross-threaded and stripped. This must have happened when a local Nissan dealer rotated the tires during a 30,000 mile maintenance cycle three weeks before. (The mechanic just put the center cover back on and never said a word. Thanks a lot!) The old stud was removed and replaced in less than 4 minutes. The job goes fast with air tools.

Yes, I could have swapped the old tires/wheels out for the new ones myself, but I was having an alignment performed to add some negative camber for improved cornering...
