This is what they look like <img src = "http://www.wheeloptions.com/wheel/avs/avs_model6_silver.jpg">

It's going to take about 1-2 months before they get here.

They are not superlight, but they are rare. I was deciding between this ( they're AVS Model 6 ) or the Volk Racing TE37. They are both Japanese and they both cost the same. I went with this one since less people have them.

Nice looking wheels!

I've always preferred the clean, simple look yet gives
an aggressive tone...

Tony, good choice

How much do they weight? 18's I assume?

What offset?

I've been considering new rims too, but the nismo wheels I want are WAY too high. Gonna have to wait a while, like after the christmas $ spending crunch!

later. Ming

Re: Tony, good choice

Sup Ming,
I'm getting 18X8. Offset is either 35mm or 40mm. My shop is going to do a little research to make sure big calipers can fit under them. I have no idea on how much they weight. If they don't fit after they get here from Japan, I can always get the TE37. They have tons of TE37 in the states.

Dang, pretty similar looking to the rims you have now, just less spokes. I like em on your car tho'. Make sure you post those pics as soon as you have them mounted!

Ming, when and if you're selling your old rims, let me know. I've been looking for some 18"s for a while now.

Re: question ...

I'm going with Sprint springs. I was looking for a 2" drop and GC was the only choice until the new Sprint springs =)

it is always cool to have rare wheels...however just note that if one of them needs replacement that could really suck as it will take a long time to get them or they don't make them anymore.

Re: how do those new springs feel?

I don't have them on the car yet. I just ordered them last week for $115 + shipping from http://www.groupbuycenter.com. I already sold my old rims.

The only guy I know who gets new rims every spring...but I suppose if you want to show a car you have to mix it up. That's the price you pay to keep ahead of the competition...and speaking of price ($) you probably could have put a decent downpayment on a ring for Su with what those rims cost! LOL!

Nice wheels though, I'm sure I won't see them on until at least March.

BTW, what winter tires do you run? I now have a set of factory 17's for my Max (in the garage for the winter). The 16's are gonna be my off season wheels and I'll most likely get some better winter rubber for them next year. I was thinking about the Pilot Alpin's?

I'm running some Pirelli Asimmetrico 210. They are actually HR rate. I think these type of winter tires are great in the DC area, since we don't really get that much snow. They are more performance oriented winter tires. They might not perform as well as other true snow tires in snow. If I was living in Midwest area, I might go with more true snow tires.

Yep, we don't need real agressive snow tires here. But the summer compound tires just won't cut it when we do get hit. I want the best dry handling winter tire I can get, since most of our winter is dry...but that is capable of driving through snow. The factory tires on the 17's (bridgestone potenza) are kinda scary in the rain (going 30 mph in 2nd, if I get on it the tires break loose!) so i don't even want to know what they're like in the snow, lol.

I think the Mich. Pilot Alpin is an HR tire as well so we're thinking along the same lines. Something like the Blizzak is a great snow tire but would really be overkill for the winters around here.

Is there any reason (except $$$) that you don't go with the Cattman Coilovers? Slam for show, up a bit for street. The ride was very sweet in the car I rode in that had the Cattman's.

I wanted coilovers for the longest time and went with GC since they are cheaper. I bought the GC, Konis and Stillen camber plates. I have pretty much everything ready. I was plan on slam it for show and raise it for the street as you stated. But I realized that's way too much work, and it's not worth it. I will have to bring my jack and jackstands to the shows. There will be alignment problems if I don't bring it back to the exact height everytime. I have seen people at the shows not properly jacking up their car to mess with their coilvers. It freaking scary looking at people stick both arms in between the wheel and the fender well with only a kmart or OEM jack holding the car up. No jackstands. I saw one guy's OEM jack failed and his front end was resting on the brake rotor. At least this guy was smart enough to take his front wheel off. If he didn't, he wouldn't have time to get his arms out. Cattman coilovers and GC both are not perfect. There will be noises and installation issues. I was really happy with my Intrax, but I want to go alittle lower. The Sprint springs fit the bill.

I was under the impression that you could change ride hight without jacking the car up.... My bad.
