Why is my service engine soon light on? Here's what happened today ...

HISTORY

My flex pipe was leaking so Cattman sent me a new flex pipe. These new flex pipes are awesome!! They have a sleeve inside the liner so it will be difficult for the new ones to collapse

1. When the old flex was cut off, we observed that my flex pipe had indeed collapsed ... the diameter was about the size of a quarter .. but only on one end. The other end was fine.

2. New one was installed. Drove off ... no problems ... sounded & felt sweet.

3. About 60 miles later ... my Service engine soon light came on. The exhaust tone changed as well. My max now sounds like a rigged up 5.0 .. it's sorta chuggs ... but not as loud as a 5.0.

Could it be because the flow of exhaust has changed due to the restriction being removed? If so .. why didn't it sense it immediately?

I've disconnected the battery & I'll see what happens in a couple hours.

Any thoughts would help!

The only way to know for sure is to pull the code the pcm is giving you.
