http://www.txchange.com/transgo.htm

it's around 40-50 i think...maybe less...,maybe more.
it does help a little on tranny's life...keep in mind it's a shift improver.

do a search for people who have done it.

I only know 1 person who has done the shift kit then the VB mod. He said that it was night and day difference.

I would suggest if you want longer life outta your auto, change the fluid about every 20k depending on driving conditions... there is a loink at the top of the forum about that and oil changing...also put in a tranny cooler, which is also at the top of the forums.

my 3 cents.

I had the Transgo on my old tranny...

Bought the car with 29k on the odometer and changed the tranny fluid myself right away, even though Nissan said they had changed it At 45k I put the transgo kit in. Taking my time and putting NOS stuff in at the same time, took me about 6 hours or so total, and I had to take the VB partly back out because I reinstalled the shift linkage wrong and the car wouldn't shift It requires you to COMPLETLY take apart the VB, it's not for the faint hearted, I'd only recommend trying this if you have extensive mechanical experience. Ive worked on cars for over 10 years, and Helicopters for the last 6, and I still wasn't entirely comfortable doing it, but hey, it worked out okay... Now, it does improve shifting, though after a while the effect seems to diminish a bit, maybe I just got used to it. It did not make me chirp 2nd, like many with Don's VB claim, though Ive never driven or road in a car with Don's VB, so I can't back that up. At 61k, my tranny went out. Granted, I used NOS for a while, but it was less than 2 bottles, and the failure was due to the tranny pump, so it wouldn't hold pressure and stay in gear, not something the VB can help out with. It's really up to you, I miss it in my new tranny, but the 5spd will take care of that little problem...

well it sounds like you only installed 1/2 the kit...the other half goes to the seals around the pump and etc.

The only thing else the kit came with was clutch bands, and I wasn't about to tear my tranny apart, the vb was hard enough...

That would be me. I have had both in my car. Both on freshly built tranny. As Bags said that I said, there is no comparison. The shift kit is at best, as someone else already said, a shift "improver". Better than nothing, but not by much. Hands down; Don's VB mod is 100 times better than the "transgo" kit. Take it from me since I've spent money on both.

He replied to me directly when I posted (on the thread that's linked above) and he and I worked it out. The VB mod costs $450 and that doesn't include the core charge. If you talk it over with him, for org members he is allowing you (sometimes, so don't quote me on this because it's up to him) to not actually have to have down time by sending you a VB already done and send him back yours w/i 3 days.

As I said before, It's probably better than nothing but not by much.
