What kind of wiring is required with the Field's AFC?

I'm assuming I'll need to tap into the MAF wire, power, ground, and possibly the tach line. What else is there?

might as well break out your wiring diagram sheets for the max. its gonna be fun, besure you can solder stuff too. makes a much neater and effects performance as well

Most of these wires are at the ECU. It's much easier tapping them there. A FSM is a must here. The FSM has a very big and detail diagram.

Fields wiring

you also have to tap into the speed sensor wire and an O2 wire. Make sure you've got the service manual on hand. It really helps as the diagram that they give you is not the greatest.

I don't know what kind of wire-tapping hardware is supplied by Fields, but my APEXi Super AFC had some lame wire tap crimp thingies. Since then I've found out about some neat wire tap connectors from 3M. It's a two-piece platic tap with a very sharp prong in one end. You don't need to strip the insulator or anything. Just lock the two pieces onto the wire, and the sharp point penetrates the insulator and taps the conductor inside. Makes for a really easy, non-permanent connection. I recommend you look into it. Not sure what 3M calls those things, though or where they're available.

I've got a Chiltons manual that has a very nice diagram of the ECU wiring. I was planning on using the 3M locks that Keven was talking about.

What kind of intial fuel adjustments are you guys programming with the Field's or Super AFC. I'm going to dyno this week and get some numbers before I add the AFC. When I get the AFC, I'll dyno again and do a 1/2 hour dyno tune session (about 5-6 pulls) and find the best setup for power. Does anyone know if the UPRD ECU is adding fuel or taking out fuel after 3500 rpms? I won't touch the fuel tables until around 3500 rpms so I can keep my part throttle fuel mileage.
