I killed a 2001 V6 Rustang....

So this kid on my baseball team got a 2001 V6 Mustang convertible, and put on an intake, and semi-tasteful wing. I told him we need to race, and he agreed. He has 5 speed, and I have an auto 95. I put on y pipe, cat back, and intake. We lined up at a light, but I couldn't torque brake since I couldn't see the turning arrow. We were pretty even off the line, and by about 90 I think I was about 2-3 cars ahead of him. I had a friend in my car, and he was alone. From about 60 on, I was pulling pretty hard on him, thanks to my new y pipe. We raced again, and I couldn't torque brake for the same reason. Up to 20 mph or so, we were dead even, but again, I slowly pulled on him, even after he chirped 2nd.

All in all, I was very happy with my autotragic. I thought it was very funny how my "stupid family sedan" beat "an american muscle car" by a good distance, that could have been even greater if I was alone, and able to torque brake. What do you guys think? I know convertible makes it slower, so what do you think he would run in the 1/4? Mid to high 15s?

I think convertables weigh more, but I know the 2000-2001 V6 5spd Mustang coupe does 0-60 in about 7 flat. I'm actually surprised he didn't take you off the line..the 5spd coupes are no slouches.

I would get beat by my friends 00 stang V6 5spd, but then again he has every bolt on available.

Good kill

Yeah I totally agree with that statement. V6 mustangs barely deserve to be considered a sports car.

He would run low 16's. Maybe, very very high 15's. Assuming he knows how to drive a 5spd.

Always gotta get that 3rd gen remark in. I can take out the auto "stangs" but I've never raced a manual one. And yes, they are less of a sports car than we are.
