Breaking News: Deezo Approves FrankCar Intakes for 4th Gen Autos

All I have to say is damn!

I bought one from DMBMaxima at the big NE meet and let him do the install. There were like a million people watching and showing interest. I think after mine was installed and tested, 5 more members bought the intake. I'm even surprised that Aaron(theblue) had one installed.

The drive:

From the start the throttle response is incredible with NO low-end loss. It actually feels like you get more power overall with this intake. I floored it and the car screams and sounds fearsome. My butt dyno definitely feels more power but I don't know how much (I'd say it feels like 10 HP ). My tires feel like they want to break loose when giving it a go from 30 all the way up thru the RPM ranges. The car is a total sleeper until you tell it to attack and then it roar like the king of the jungle.

The intake itself needs minor tweeks in design but its nothing serious to be concerned about. I'll post pics when I get a chance tonight.

I did get the Monster Flow Foam and it works fine.

A must for all autos if you want a good intake. I'm still saying damn!

good to hear, i'm gonna tweak those couple things tonight, shouldn't take long. i'm gonna include a hose and i saw how brian(alphaownz) made a bracket for it, like the 5th gen one but longer i'll make some of those then ship out a bunch next week. and make that coupler longer, they work on the 5th gens but since this has a slight angle to it it needs to be longer. like you said, very minor things wont' take long.

I approve if the intake as well. I drove a car that had the intake installed and liked it a lot.

Or it could be the fact that I actually was driving a Maxima for the first time in 3 months ...

I have and auto also and have some questions for you:
1 would you say you gain torque in the low end as opposed to losing it with a pop charger?
2 does it seem to free up the top end like the pop chargers?

Reason I ask is because I always read that pop chargers lose low end/gain top end and cai's gain low end/ lose top end. Will this intake be right in the middle and have gains in both?

I will say this, your questions were my concerns also and Steve did something right. It feels you can more torque overall because the engine is breathing better. It has a pop charger on it so its more like a hybrid CAI/POP. We have no dyno of the 4th gen auto's with the intake but it feels like it raises your HP overall and give more poser in the higher rpm's before the drop off. I'm still saying damn.

If that is the case then I would love to get one of these and avoid cutting the fender well. Are these finally available for the 4th gens?

If you get the normal cone, I could probably make you a midpipe fairly easy.

How would this thing compare to a CAI?

Which yields more power and where?

Also, I've seen the Frankencar intake on JOESmax 2k2 and it looked real good... but I'm now wondering if it can be put together for cheaper by yourself.. anyone know if that foam cone filter is sold separetly anywhere?

I'm in the same exact boat but a 5 spd

This is the first performance mod I have put on so far and I was incredibly surprised at what a difference the Frankencar intake made.
The car even feels like it runs better and quieter. Just like Deezo said, if you drive it normal, it sounds 100% stock, but once you go WOT, it feels simply amazing, tires ready to break loose, the sweet spot is at 2500RPM in 2nd gear, simply awesome the way it roars with real authority. The butt dyno also felt like at least 10HP to me, highly recomend it to everyone.

you could try and piece it all together and hack up a midpipe out of plastic and such but in the end you wouldn't save much for what we give you, billet bracket, powdercoated, monster flow or knn filter, and a tig welded midpipe.
