I'm happy with my frankencar res. remover... it works well with my jim wolf pop charger but if you don't have your battery relocated then you may run into trouble with clearance. The sound is a lot louder at WOT between 3-5K and I would guess that it has shifted my HP curve in a few places (but no additial peak HP)

and I'd just like to add ABOUT TIME! and that I'll try to remember which one is matt and steve next meet.

I'll take a close up when I get a chance and my intake isn't sitting on the airbox. It was removed. I'm getting a temp gauge for it soon also.

I have to comment again, just yesterday I took off from a light, very lightly at about 1000 RPM, then decided to push the pedal a little while in first gear and wound up spinning tires for half a block. This thing is simply phenomenal. Also, yesterday I was with my friend who has a Honda S2000 and as we drove around together, my car basically sounded identical to his. I really cant get enough of this intake, I highly recomend it to everyone.

Took my lady for a ride last night and she even liked it. At first she said it sounds like something is wrong but the more she listened to it, the more she liked it. She is very hard to please when it comes to modded Maximas and Hondas.

I guess you keep the air intake from the hood into the engine as
in your pics? I suppose this is why there is no low end loss due
to some cool air flow from outside.

Yep, they sure do, I had three girls in the car yesterday, they noticed it right away and kept begging me to go WOT. This was on the streets so I kept punching it in 2nd gear, they kept begging me to go faster and into 3rd. Overall, they were very impressed as they already thought the car was very fast to begin with (Without the intake). So yes, girls definitely approve, funny thing is I didnt even notice any lag with an extra 350 pounds of weight.

i am not a big FOAM intake guy( i dont know bout y'all call me old fashioned) ... can anyone explain the advantages of a foam intake vs a K&N .... i mean is there any kind of special technique to cleaning the FOAM intake..... and what happens when the FOAM starts to deteriorate and break up and get sucked into the engine?

i dont start ish i just mix it

I was doing some reading and inspection of the foam filter and I'll say that it's not the type of foam that you'd but take from a sofa or a chair. The foam feels like its made of some kind of resin material. I don't think we know which flows better but I've read some reviews online where people have switched from K&N to the Monster Flow and felt a difference, like the engine seemed to have better throttle reponse(which I feel also). I never had the K&N but coming from the stock airbox, its a world of a difference. I would also think that being that there is an inner and outer filter, the inner filter will not see deterioration from oxidation being that it probably won't even feel moisture from the element. The outer filter definitely feels like it can take a pounding from the elements and continue to keep good airflow to the engine.

I didn't mind going with the Monster Flow because it doesn't need to be oiled, there for I won't have to worry about over-oiling it there for messing up the MAF.

from my limited experience with foam filters (HKS)..
foam tends to break down in high heat applications. ie if your turbo is not too far from your filter. the heat would partially melt the foam and then the foam gets brittle and breaks up into little bits.

now...i don't think the underhood temp of a NA max will ever get that hot...so you don't have much to worry about. but just a FYI. also foam had been known to flow better..BUT..depends what kind of foam it also filters less. hold up your foam filter to the light and see how much light filters past the filter. hold up a K&N and see how much light pass that.

ok that's it..that's my two pennies.

Good input.

Just ordered my intake

I just ordered my intake today about 20 min ago. Does anyone know how long it will take to get this thing to my door. I have read that there is a high demand for these. I have a 99 SE and ordered the silver color. Does that mean it will take longer to get to me?? Can't wait to feel the gains. This will be my first power MOD!!!

Are there any dynos on the 4th Gen yet? Will any of these be for sale at the Mass meet that is coming up?

The most important consideration between the K&N and Monsterflow (for me anyway) is how well the monsterflow filters and that has not been tested anywhere that I have seen.

I have had a Warpspeed CAI on order for over two months now and am starting to have second thoughts.

If its not too big you should be able to get it in there but it will be snug.
