Question for those that have the 3M Clear Bra

Hi all, I have the 3M Clear bra on my car and i recently noticed that there was a 'gash' on the front hood 3M.

To describe this 'gash' its a spot on the protectant that looks a bit discolered. I took it to the dealership and they thought a little wiping would take it out but it didn't and they concluded that it was a rock that hit over the bra.

I was just wondering for those that have the 3M do you have any area's on the bra where u can see where rocks have contacted with the car? Or does anyone else have discolered spots?

Its kinda dark but i will try to take a picture if i can
until then any input is appreciated

tnx

It looks more like a cut to me, like they put it on with a slice in it and now the water and sun has got into it and made it yellow. Rocks chips should not show up in it, if they did then why would you put it on?

Sometimes when rocks hit the car it leaves white spots where it came into contact with the car. This will "bake" out in the sun and will go away.. mine has done this before. I'm not sure if that is what that is, but that's what happens to mine sometimes.

well its not a cut
the material is still there
as mentioned before its a dull color into the film kinda like a scuff mark
it seems as if it took of the top part of the film

I contacted 3M about this and they said that it is impossible to in any way take off some of the protectant.

I took it to the place that installed it and they said it was an area that has been contacted with a rock and to them 'It did its job' so they aren't going to replace it or anything

I would have to buy another one

Yeah, but the point of the whole thing is that you have to buy another piece for your hood instead of repainting your whole hood. If the film wasn't there, that would be a huge scuff mark in your paint. Consider yourself lucky that you have to buy something that is relatively cheap compared to a new paint job.

Well I understand that
I'm just wondering if this is normal to get scuff marks for a rock hit like that

Yes, it is. I get them and they go away so you might want to wait a while before you replace it.
