Custom cam regrinds...
What is a fair price to ask for these? I went to my shop today and asked, and he told me the regrinds on the cams would be 289 a pair plus labor for removing them and putting them back in. Is this an okay price? I'm going for the low end gains. He told me somewhere around the lines of 35-40 torque and he's not sure on HP. He also said he would drop the prices considerably if there were a group deal (around 10 sets). Thanx for the info.

two, I highly doubt yuo will get 35-40 ft-lbs. Maybe that's just me being pesimistic, but I will bet on it that you won't see that kind of gains, unless it's some mad wild profile.
Yep, regrinds are a bit dangerous for your motor. I wouldn't develop cams unless I knew the absolute best lift and duration the stock ECU can sustain. Cams are like most other mods. Thier power is very dependant on the size of the motor. A bigger motor means better numbers. I can tell you that a cam WITH roller rockers and valve springs on a V8 LT1/LS1 F-Body only yields about 20hp and 20 ft/lbs of torque. There are more aggressive cams and they yield more power, but at the expense of having to run a custom ECU.
Cams on the Maxima might be good for an honest 10-15hp and 10 ft/lbs of torque with the stock ECU. Building or grinding cams is not something you can blindly do. You need to know the cam specs and you need to understand cams all together. Only a true tuner could build cams to Nissan quality and perform good. You need a dyno and you'll need to dyno A LOT. Truely, I could assume that it probably would cost about $10000 to build a set of cams that would truely work great. You'd need a lot of blank cams to grind at various specs, install and remove them, dyno, etc. I think this is why we'll never see cams for the VQ. I don't think many people would want to spend $1200 for cams and then another $400-500 to install them. 4 cams on a Mustang Cobra go for about $1500 and $500 for install and they yield about 15-20hp on the 4.6 V8.
