Artical In HCI about Boosted Maxs

If you are thinking about getting a SC then read this months issue of HCI (Hot Compacts and Imports). It has about 2 pages of a 2k2 maxima with stillen sc! It had dyno reports and all! Im just happy that the magazines are finally relizing the maximas power!

so you can boast you beat a stock car? race a dinan charged m5 with your charged 2k2.. that would be something to brag about..

you should race your car with your intake against an m5 with an intake..

it's an M5 if i have to cut his plug wires and slash his tires to win i can still say "i beat an M5" and his car isn't stock, dinan exhaust and Chip.

i have an idea to fit a roots type in the engine bay and also make it MUCH easier to change the belt, but we'll see how it goes.

no he hasn't should be 13.0~13.2 i think. i should be at that with 9psi. i should have about 275hp now and on a good day run a 13.99. from a roll where traction weon't be as much of an issue if i have 400hp and he has 420 and i weight much less it should be close. i just want to hang, it will surprise the hell out of him..

Hahaha Steve... dont forget, when he gets the chance, he wants to supercharge his M5. Another thing he's a very damn good driver. And one more thing, M5's are def. faster than you think, especially from a role. They burn out in first and second like its childs play and they can hang with a 911 TT on the highway.

Theres an alpine white E46 M3 w/ imola interior in my neighborhood now...

I picked up the rag last night. Its a 5th gen Max with the standard SC kit. They upgraded the SC-trim blower with a S trim blower.

"...This pair of lengthy inlet tubes running to and form the SC represented a major restriction to airflow, both in and out of the SC. The fix was to eliminate the pair of tubes and replace them with a single and larger inlet tube. Eliminating the twin-tube setup required switching the system over from a draw-through to a blow-through system, with respect to the factory MAF. The Vortech now was free to draw air through a larger air filter and produce the necessary boost pressure through a larger, single discharge tube..."

(This made me wonder if the SC kit for the 4th gen is a better breathing method.)

They incorporated a custom Powertrain Dynamics air-to-air intercooler and moved the MAF in front of the blower.

Sounds like they're talking about the 2k-2k1 Stillen SC kit. We have two tubes... intake (before SC) and charged (after SC). I actually regained 1 psi by switching to a CAI setup (dropped the intake tube).

Yep you're correct, Y2KevSE...the 4th gen kit has just one tube after the SC. As the K&N filter is directly attached to the blower I'm wondering why Stillen changed it to a two tube system? Was it to get cooler air from the bottom of the car?

I assume Stillen wanted to get the MAF before the SC so they won't have to worry about boost leak from the separation between that and the tubes.

Yes, supposedly it draws cooler air... but the downside is air restriction.
