1.8 60' and 13.14 @ 104 Next time 12's or bust

Just got back from the track. Didn't do great in the eliminations, ran out of juice, but got a great 60' and a 13.14 and a 13.19. It was really hot and humid so I think I can do better. When it hooks up it hooks up, what a feeling and I love the attention a sleeper Max gets. Folks can't believe its a Maxima AUTOMATIC. Maybe I should start selling these things. The longer I have it the more I love it, just like a kitten around town and a tiger on the track.
I will post the timeslip and video tomorrow in my signature.

Great job!! You have now switched over to the NX kit and are using a bigger shot compared to last time, right?

I was using same shot, it just that NX is to the wheels not the crank like NOS, its just plain nuts in comparison, just have to experience it. My Son just installed the Direct Port but couldn't run today, his fuel line burst and his O2 sensor died, I think we are going again next Sat to test and tune so will see how it does then.

BTW I say your name on my Rad today Calsonic it really rang a bell.

Ya I have thought about it, great idea. But after trying the NX kit I am not sure it would help much. I am spraying immediately out of the hole because I stall at 2k or so and only takes a fraction of a second to get up to 2500 or so. I am still leaving it in Drive, but as soon as I hit the nitrous all hell breaks loose and it immediately goes up to 6300 and shifts into 2nd, the it continues to burn about half way through 2nd but it really hooks so I am not sure I could improve on that with a high stall convertor. Before today I would have said yes but not so sure anymore.

Not sure what you mean about the video. I just have an analog camcorder and I load it in and compress the heck out of it and reduce the quality to make it somewhat downloadable but still legible. I did get one video today of a pass with me only so want to see how it sounds, I usually have to compete with a loud individual in the other lane.

Hey Costco, no wheelhop at all, I ain't gettin a VI and I dropped down to 11 psi to get the 1.8 60'. I take that back, if they start selling VI's at COSCO for a good price I will think about it. But darn it was hot today, I was sweating the whole day and no A/C, maybe I should run with it on.

My Son has a VR6 GTI, he ran 13.12 last year with an 80 shot of NOS so he is looking at mid to low 12's now with Direct Port NX. I was originally going to get an auto Passat and try and run that but the more I looked into it, their auto is really not great. So I got a Maxima and the auto is great at least I sure am happy so far regardless of what some people think.
Check out my Son's site his name is Jim too.
http://www.mightyvr6.com/main.html

Actually I went for the last 2 years to the track with him and changed his tires etc etc until this year. For the last two races he has been helping his Dad change tires etc etc.
It is great, we have a fantastic relationship and he even helps me out with sponsorships etc especially with NX. He works for www.modified.com. Check out their site they have an article on his car with the Quaife install. And poor old Dad took the pictures.

Because I love automatics and I like the underdog. When I win against a manual transmission it does my heart good. Also I know that manual trans are faster than autos for cars in the 15, 14 sec range but the faster you get the better autos are. Ultimately the auto is faster when you get to really fast times, just look at the big V8's out there.

I'm not even sure they make such an animal. No No he wouldn't be caught dead with an automatic.
He just got married in Dec and my daughter-in-law just got a 1.8T Beetle and its manual too, even for her, so its not a family tradition, but he puts up with me.

True, but too bad most of the autos on here won't see sub 14 sec range. I'll just have to put up with my auto. I thought about getting a 5spd Maxima, but thought better of it. If I was to get a 5spd car, I definitely have to get something different.

Matt won't be able to do it any time soon I think. His wife is expecting their second child very soon. Btw, if I haven't say it before, congrats!

Hey I have a lot of respect for MardiGrasMax but I am probably going out next weekend to try to hit the 12's. I just want to be able to say I did it. Then I will stop spending money. (Did I really say that, hope my wife didn't hear) I am definately not going after Don's record. Anyone who is in the 12's has my respect and MardiGrasMax is there, just needs a good run to do it.

Just to think that I would be right about were you are if I simply had slicks.....dammit...

BTW - all N20 power ratings are done in wheel horse power...doesn't matter what brand.

the guys on here with NOS kits that dyno with 100-shots usually dyno about 100 wheel horsepower over their N/A pulls.

how in the world do u manage to have ur stock tranny hold together with all that power? i thought power like that would literally rip the auto tranny right off the block.

Would a UPgraded Transaxle hold that crazy power better off the line, if you were to get something like that done?

I was thinking on the lines of in-car cam, like mounted to the seat or something...

I was looking at your sons site just now, and noticed that he got almost the same stats for his run that you did yesterday..

SEP 16, 2001 - New faster Time, 13.12 @ 104.15, 1.869 60ft time...

Mucho props to ya Jim 1.8 60' is awesome, you must have flown out the hole!!! Thats really where you made up most of the 5 tenths. If it was cooler out you woulda been 12's for sure! 11psi in the slicks, DAYUM, your going to need to put rim screws Thanks for the vote of confidence too, 12's are so darn elusive. I've said the same thing too, "12's and I'm done", yea right!!!

Easiest way to hit 12's in an auto... Buy Don's car that's for sale... Not only that, but with further tuning, you may hit 11's as it was only .2 away

How in the world is that auto able to hold against a 1.8 60'!!! That's insane. My understanding is that these Nissan differentials can't last very long with sub 2.0 60'.

Those are some incredible runs and much of your ET is simply because of traction. Very wicked.
