I've been thinking about selling my HID's..Help me decide please!!!!

Lately, I've been contemplating on giving up my HID's for power mods. Ever since I added the FCP Intake, I've been wanting more power. The other issue is that I don't live in the best of neighborhoods and I don't want to draw anymore attention to my car with the "look good" mods. With that said, I think I'm ready to go back to halogen's so I can buy a Y-pipe.

[Even though I sound like I have my mind made up, please help me decide]

Thanks.

i see you caught the modding bug-- steve has corrupted you.. personally i would go for a Y pipe..and a b pipe but leave on the stock muffler if you wanna keep quiet-- but i think you should definately get a Y pipe.. i'm alittle biased tho.. cuz i want a Y pipe too

Deezo: I say keep the HIDs. I thought about selling mine too for more mods, but I love the HIDs so much. I know if I sell it, I will regret it later on. This is not simply a cosmetic mod, it really does help seeing at night. I feel more confident now that I can actually see the road better at night than with my old hyperwhites. We got the Hanabi HIDs at a very good price. Can't ask for anything more. I can say this is one of the best mod that I have spent money on, and that's saying a lot. Remember, I used to have a SC. So, that's saying something. I'm in the process of selling my carbon fiber hood, but the HIDs won't be going anywhere. Even if I return my car back to stock, I think I'll still keep the HIDs unless I'm going to sell the car of course. Hope this helps.

I did (afterall) buy the HID's because it was hard to see up here in the sticks of MA. I do value your opinion though being that you have done a lot of modding to your ride.

Try putting your halogens back in, drive around at night, and see how long you can withstand switching back to sweet sweet HID.

I'm rolling around with one HID and one stock light.... I already can't stand the stock side.

Keep the HID's!!!

Then save some money so you can get a y-pipe, custom-b, custom exhaust, tranny cooler and don's vb mod.

You think you'll be happy after that? F*ck no.

It never ends....

Seriously though....life after HID's sucks(from what I hear from my friends). My advice would be to keep them and save up for the y-pipe.

I'll probably get everything except for the VB mod. I really don't need it. I'm able to run 15.62 in the 1/4 without it and all it does is reduce the lag in shifting and I learned how to counter it manually. Thanks for the advice though.

Deezo I was thinking the same thing - Sell the HID's. So I put my stock bulbs back in and my decision was made.

KEEP THE HID's

Once you go HIDs, you won't go back.

I totally agree. HIDs make night driving so pleasurable. I wouldn't think of getting rid of them. Just keep saving until you have enough for a Y-pipe. You are better of keeping the HIDs and getting a less expensive non-mandrel bent pipe than giving up the beauty of HIDs. With that said, a Y-pipe is a must-have mod though...

Don't make this harder for me man. I just though about selling them to get the Y-pipe faster but I should keep the lights because the night sucks around here.

You can drive behind me all the time
I was driving Anna home last night and turned my high beams on. Both of us said "WOW!". Low beams are bright enough, but high beams turn night into day

Budget all the way

you don't have to work too hard to cover up a $178. Just don't eat out for a few weeks, skip movies, put in an extra shift, not that hard.

So what if its not SS? Whats the worst that could happen? It rusts through in 5 years? By then you wont have much left of the factory exaust anyway.

Keep the HIDS!!! I drive my bro's car sometimes which is a 99 Honda accord and the headlights suck. I am always saying to myself as I drive the Honda, Man, I wish I was driving my maxima with my HIDS but that could be because I missed the power of my max too.

This is crazy! I was just thinking about selling my HIDs for power mods myself. But after reading through the thread, I think Im gonna keep them now. Darkness in upstate NY is rediculous. Going back to halogens would probably be a nightmare

I drove my moms 99 Accord and was like "Damn I can't see s***!" Keep em, cuz Im gonna keep mine! But then again, I might just sell them and get the 8000k kit.....I hear the light is simply amazing!

I'd say it depends on how much you can get for them... How much of a loss do you think you'll take on the lights? How mnay mods would you be able to get for the money of selling them? Just a Y pipe? If so I dont think it's worth it, but if you'd be able to get like 2-3 good performance mods for the price, I'd say do it. Expecially if you think they might get stolen, because then all will be lost anyways.

I feel I can get $350 for them being that they were $420 when I bought them. I would get the Y to add power but them I would decrease my vision. I guess there is no "real" sense in doing that.

bags533 and 97GLE: Budget keeps popping up in my head. I need to change the way I think about getting stuff I want. I always want to have the money in the bank to pay with cash. I do have a clean credit card but I hate to have the debt. I've been contemplating using it but I'm still fighting with myself.

As far as not going to movies or dinner, I have a fiance' and she does like my time too so dinners are a must to change up the scenery (although we don't eat out much). I'm also saving for a house but I'm really wanting to get my engine breathing better so I can be one of the fastest NA Auto Max's in MA.

I do make good money but I'm helping my lady pay off hers so we can live free when we buy our home.

The Y pipe will be coming soon though, I feel it.

NYBlakMaxx: I drive my lady's 97 Accord 5 speed and I feel the same as you (even though I upgraded her lights to silverstars). Yes, her car is kinda weak but when I start making big $$$'s, I will be giving her car more power too.

But then again, selling my HIDs would allow me to pay off some of my debt
