On my cutlass I had 5%. A Georgia state trooper stopped me and gave me a ticket and he took a razor blade and marked an X on the front windshield.

I would have gotten a lawyer as soon as an officer touched MY car. He doesn't have a warrant to touch anything of mine!! I would have been ****ed for him defacing my propery. It would have been all I could do to stop from getting out of my car, and putting a nice big X on his tires!!

I had two tint tickets in two months with two different cars

Here the laws are 35/20/20. My first ride was a black w/tan coupe and had 20/20/13 on it...heh...body sections tested at 19.9% so the guy wrote me up for everything. Took it all off, I was selling the car anyway.

My max tested even lower, though the dealership was sure it was "legal tint" (I knew it wasn't but I made it a point to ask them when I bought the car). I got caught that time at a farkin registration checkpoint. The dealership agreed to re-tint the front two windows only, and did a real poor job too

8% limo? Don't you mean 5%? Not even sure if they make 8% but even if they did, why not go down to the normal 5% that limos have? I have 5% on my 2k, have had it now for about six months and no problems at all. Been pulled over twice for speeding but never a question about the tint. And I live in Hawaii where the tint laws are VERY strict which I could never figure out. Have more days of sun than anywhere else in the US and they're quite strict on the tint. Talked to a cop once and he told me that if they can tell that you have spent money on your car or that you really take care of it, then they don't bother pulling you over for tint. Ever see a BMW, Lexus, Benz, or any other fancy car pulled over for illegal tint? I haven't, since they usually don't bother, at least here they don't. As for the Maximas, I have had a few friends with the older gens get pulled for illegal tint but for some reason, the 2k and up they leave alone. All about the money I guess.

Probably an issue of security. Based on your statements it's usually:

Rich people = need security = good fast cars = dark tint = police respect their need for security.

got pulled over the other week for my tinted front windows (only 35%!) here in CA. first, it was night time and i have a black interior which make the windows look even darker. 2nd, i forgot to roll down the windows, which a always do as a precaution whenever cops are around. finally, LA cops are just asses. i'm paying the fine and keeping my tints.

I thought the same thing, but everyone told me here, a window tint ticket is a frickin moving violation. Funny thing is, between city prosecutors, staties, city officers, judges, DMV workers, attorneys...nobody could tell me how many points (which means it's probably a 1-point generic violation).

Get this: we have two classes you can take for moving violations. A 4-hr that you can take once every 2 years for stuff like 19-over and under speeding, turn signal, following too closely....and the 8-hr, once a lifetime unless court ordered like me, for stuff like negligent driving, leaving the scene, 20+ speeding...

You can take a class for a window tint violation...but it's the 8-hr class!!

yeah i think it's a point violation too. i already took an 8-hr class a few yrs ago for a speeding ticket.. would i be able to take a class again to erase any points?

i keep hearing from people that if u know a cop, that he/she can just simply "write off" a tint ticket and you wouldn't have to go to court or pay any fines. simple as that. hmm, maybe next time i get pulled i'll ask him to hang out! hahah.

I used to drive alot from augusta to atlanta and I think they had a mark on me. In two years time they pulled me over about 10 times. That was the only ticket. They wish they had more.
