Lending a hand to all fellow Maxima owners

Lets take a minute to see how we as a community help out other Maxima owners. Newbies and oldies, we all have something in common and that is our cars.

I enjoy answering questions for anybody, newbie or oldie doesn't matter, I enjoy helping people out. I look at it this way, I answer the post if I can help them out, it's fun posting on here during the work day, then tell them about the search feature.

There's a way to be helpful to others and inform or ask them to search this forum for other information, and be polite about it.

There is no need to be rude and respond to newbie posts with such comments like "This has been beaten to death on here already, use the search feature." That's not how I was greated when I joined this board and I sure don't want to great others that way either.

It's true that most of the questions that newbies ask have been discused on several posts throughout this board. Technically you could lock this board up for allowing any new posts and make it a search & find site for Maxima information. Would that be any fun? Of course not, but in reality just about everything you wanted to know about our cars has been discused at some point on here.

If you truly enjoy helping out other Maxima owners with your own personal knowledge, then this is a great place to visit throughout the day. I've personally made a few friends on here as well.

This is the ultimate meeting place for fellow Maxima owners.

Lets keep it that way!

I agree. Some people around here just jump on a bandwagon when they probably don't even use the search function.

An internet forum is a tricky monster. I think the .org does just fine all things considered. People could be a little more tolerant on both ends...experienced users kindly suggesting to review the FAQ or explaining using the search function a bit more, and also, not-so-experienced users not taking so much offense when someone yaps at them to use the search function for real obviously repeated questions (you don't have to know the forum to know the obviousness of some questions...if you have a prob with your car, ask yourself, does this seem like a problem a LOT of people would have? etc)

A lot of people just don't express themselves well over the internet, and due to this and knowledge of the subject area, just don't formulate questions well. Some people will never get over this - if you try to explain clearly to them how they can improve on communicating in clear english, one ear and out the other. If you respond back in "well wat u sad wuz rilly stoopid" or something offensive, they get all worked up and again, don't improve, and instead waste time arguing.

It can be frustrating for both sides, newbs and the experienced, to communicate over this bland medium of plain text, but if everyone just calms down and tries to look into how they're communicating when they don't get the answers they're looking for, instead of blowing up and arguing, we'd all be better off.

If you need some help relaxing, PM me and I'll pass you the official everlasting maxima.org spliff.

Since your so willing to help, want to install some struts and springs?

I know what you're talking about. I recommend using the search function, but at the same time I usually give my opinion on the question.

As for how we are first treated, it's based on you. If you come on and start bragging about how your the fastest, etc ... You're going to get rude responses. And if you ask a REALLY general question, people get somewhat annoyed.

I'm guessing that most people who were received positively used some common sense, and read around before asking their questions.

bwaaaahahaha...work in IT, like Doug and SprintMax (and mr 97 "turbo"), and you'll get tired of helping. Nonetheless, I really try to help when I can. If STEVE CAN EVER GET MY SUSPENSION INSTALL PICTURES OFF HIS CAMERA, I can redo the suspension thread with Tom.

He's such a nice boy!!
I still like my tiallights very much. My car's a$$ is much sexier as a result of... SprintMax!

Some people get really pushy too; I tried to help someone and a bolt was so tight, no one could get it loose. Soooo, I got pestered to meet this person in places that I was nowhere near, and interrupt my schedule, to use $10 worth of tools you can get at Sears. It's NOT COOL. And it's not like I got any stronger in a week!
