Anyone use their max to tow/launch a wave runner?
Anyone use their max to tow/launch a wave runner?
Well I'm seriously considering purchasing a wave runner. Does anyone with a 5 spd max tow a jet ski or wave runner. I know the towing would not be a problem as it is very light but I'm a little concerned about launching the wave runner at the launch with my 5 spd, especially if the launch is a little slippery (which I'm sure it will be). Any experience on this?

Ive never done this but Ive towed my Honda CBR600F4i bike on an openbed. If you have stock suspension its gonna be horrible. I was spinning in the rain going up a hill and thats including the quaife diffy. I dunno how much a jetski combo is though. Try it out, make sure you have a friend handy with a truck to tow you out incase you need it.

If you're so "concerned" then why don't you buy an SUV which is how most people do it? What do you mean if the launch is slippery, you have something called a parking brake and you do drive in the rain eh? Not sure what your point is why would a Max be any different from any other vehicle

thanks for the input though.
i saw a max the other day towing one of the SeaDoo boats, think it was like a 13-15ft one, nothing huge but i couldnt belive it. The rear end was sagging like crazy, sorta reminded me of the infamous "Intrax sag" problem, lol!

Wow, short of the first two the replies to this thread suck...
Front wheel drive is not good for a launch slip as you can imagine.
Anyway, If i were you I would have a friend with a truck and a tow strap tied to the front of your car, short enough that the car cant go in the water. Try it out a couple of times and see if your happy. You never know what could happen.

It wasn't clever, but ok. I was just pointing out that Eric was the only one who directly answered the question.
A tow strap is relatively inexpensive and most people around a lake know someone with a truck. With the weight shift that happens when you back up I wouldn't be surprised if you overwhelmed the back tires and slid into the lake. I've seen a old Bonneville sliding down the boat ramp, hard on the brakes. He managed to stop but is it worth the chance?
