take a look at this month's SCC mag. It discusses two companies that cracked Honda's ecu code for older Hondas like your CRX. You send them the ecu and they send it back as FULLY PROGRAMABLE. That's even one step above Electomotive's unit that works in conjuction w/ the factory ecu. SCC is even gonna have two B16 Hondas as project cars. They will use one company's programable ecu in each car and then compare.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Jeff,

Shouldn't this be OT? It's damaging my poor psyche to have to read CRX posts in the Maxima General Discussion...

Hush Bill... this is good for general Honda knowledge. =P

Jeff,
Yup, known about Zdyne for a while... as a matter of a fact, they fixed my JDM PR3 ecu that I purchased. The PR3 ecu is very hard to come by and since I ahd one that wouldn't turn the car over, Zdyne repaired it. Did you know that while normal honda ecu for say my crx goes for about $75, this PR3 unit can fetch upwards of $400?! Well, a non chipped version goes for about $350 and a chipped on like mine will go for about $450. Anyways, Zdyne's Gold ECU is fully programmable. I think someone here could contact them to see if they have an interest in tackling MAxima ECUs. Zdyne also makes a conversion for me to use my stock ECU to run my conversion... adding only 1 wire, which I think is the actual vtec solenoid wire.

To make this Maxima related... I opened the CRX up a little on the way to the muffler shop Friday. I had DeAnne follow me in the maxima cause wee were dropping the car off. Anywyas... Sinec I couldn't shift hard cause of the clutch I had to have slow 1-2 shifts. But the car is very fast... and very deceptive at that. Down a straight of a lot less than 1/4 mile, I hit 75mph VERY quickly. And this is with a throttle that's not WOT. The cable has a bit too much slack in it right now. I know for a fact that it's faster than my maxima. Seeing as the maxima is in mid 15 range right now, I suspect atleast high 14s on the crx. of course I won't know till I take it to the tract with a properly broken in clutch.

I figured it was better for me to

say something than Russ since it could turn into flames quickly....

Interesting update on the CRX though.....And DeAnne is allowed to drive the Max? Wow, you've got it bad for her....

I figured you knew shing->

but I figured posting would show everyone else what's out there. Soonly $450 for a fully programable ecu?? That's damn cheap and interesting. I wish JWT would offer something like that for Nissans. Instead of having to send them the ecu everytime a change is made. Offhand I would think it would be diffiuclt for Honda guys to crack another maker's ecu codes. If anyone should look into this kind of new technology, it should be JWT or maybe electramotive. They did some Nissan racing stuff in the past.

BTW Bill and Shing. I never know where to post ****. There's so many sections now. I just post where ever I think the person is looking.

My thoughts exactly ->

My posts just show up, and there is no structure or reason.

You would think that JWT could make a fully programmable ECU for at least the 3rd Gens and 95 models.....

I have no plans for an ECU until intake/exhaust components have been replaced on my 94 just because of the hassle of sending it back every couple of months....

JWT CAN make these ECU's fully programmable... the hard part is to crack the code. since they have cracked it already, they can surely do tis. BUT alas, money talks, well greed really. if they make it not programmable, you will have to go back each time. So go figure...
