Since this topic was dug out from the .orgy pits..
I'll post it right this time around and delete the other thread.
Everyone should know to sober up before going behind the wheels.

Did anyone see that show(I believe it was discovery channel) where the drivers who were sleep deprived drove the same or worse than those who were dui?
If you indeed do mean alcohol, the people that answered yes should be ashamed of themselves. How can you even consider driving after drinking after incidents in which parents have lost sons, brothers have lost sisters and friends losing friends?

I answered no, and the people who readily answer yes and can think of multiple occasions make me sick.
When I was 8, I was riding bikes with a friend of mine in our quiet suburban neighborhood in Casper, WY. We were on the sidewalk, and approaching our street intersection on the right-hand side of the road where we would turn right and continue on the sidewalk. The sidewalk to this particular yard was fenced high enough that you couldn't see around the corner from a little BMX bike, not that it would've probably mattered. My friend is in front of me and is probably about 10 feet or so from the corner, when out comes a speeding 1970-something Dodge truck. The truck narrowly misses the fence, but bounds up onto the sidewalk, right into my friend. I'm about 5 feet away as I literally watch him get torn apart by the impact. Fortunately for me, the angle of the truck allowed me to be missed by what was probably nothing more than a few inches, but the last thing I remember was seeing my friend get hit, and watching as the truck began to narrowly miss me. The next thing I remember is waking up in ICU with IV's going, and worst headache you can possibly imagine. While I was not actually hit by the truck, I was knocked unconcious by something else that the paramedics found partially lodged into my forehead, my friend's arm, or the lower half anyways. Obviously he didn't survive, and I wound up spending 7 days in the hospital, 2 before I even woke up the first time. I had the stitches and scar on my forehead for some time afterwards, and I don't think you can imagine what it was like going into your 3rd grade classroom with the story of a classmate's demise so clearly marked on part of your face. This was broad daylight, and perhaps a rare incident, but the driver was drunk nonetheless, and the same thing could happen to anyone, anywhere, and at anytime.
