Nissan Service
Nissan Service
Has anybody directly compared Nissan service to Infinit?
Here in Cincinnati the two dealers are practically next to each other (seperated by a Lexus dealership).
I have had it with inadequate and condencending service everytime I take one of the Maximas to the dealer. I would like to know if Infiniti is worth the premium you pay for service after the sale.
I would have bought a 2K2 I35 on looks alone if a 6M was available but since the G35 coupe will have the option of a 6M I can avoid the Nissan dealer for future purchases.
If someone has had both a Nissan and Infiniti with the chance to compare service departments I would appreciate your thoughts, thanks.

If the 3 dealers are side-by-side I would put pennies to pounds that it's the same owner... Same owner, same management philosophy... Same Management, same application of policies. You are FUBAR. Not saying that it's any better anywhere else (other Nissan / Infinity or other brand), but chances are.....

I always wonder when people compare dealership service departments because I've only had the occasion to deal with service departments for warranty repairs. It is almost less expensive to take your car to an independent mechanic for routine maintenance.
With the Infiniti dealership, you'll get the nice loaner car during warranty repairs or maintenance during the warranty period. I dunno if that is really worth it though. The independent shop I take my Maxima to specializes in Japanese cars and always uses OEM parts, at around 1/2 price of the dealership service department.

Bergen County New Jersey. Ramsey Auto group owns Ramsey Nissan and Ramsey Infiniti. There right next to each other.
Pros and cons:
Parts:
Nissan - Parts department never has anything I need.
Infiniti - Parts department seems to have everything and prices are actually cheaper then Nissan next door.
Service:
Nissan - No loaner car, the service manager is an a$$ hole!!!
Infiniti - Free loaner car, very polite service advisor, TSB's are done without even mentioning them!
Sales:
Both about the same.
So as far as the theory on ownerships, Infiniti hands down beats Nissan. Infiniti Corp. somehow passes along excellent customer service to all their dealers. Nissan on the other hand cuts corners.

I think they are independant because is an auto mall. Basically about 15 dealerships in one area.

EVERY time my car has been in, they have managed to damage something. Now I am so nasty and **** about it when I drop it off, the car literally is watched by the SM (Jay) and in sits in that garage area and it STILL has issues.
I would be curious to see about going to that Infiniti place for warranty. I always thought that they would send me 2 doors down for service. But I really dont even care about loaners...I just want GOOD QUALITY work done and not have my car F'd up every time I drop it off and spend all the time arguing about the damamge. I have so many before and after pics of damage its not even funny.
I remember when consumer reports did a rankings on dealerships. If I remember correctly Nissan was second to last, only ahead of Mitsubishi. I do not remember where Infiniti was but my mom test drove an I35 a couple of weeks ago and the salesman said they were tied for 1st with Lexus. The only experience I have ever had at an Infiniti dealer is a test drive but so far they seem to be FAR better than the Nissan dealer. The same day that we got a 20 minute test drive at Infiniti nobody even paid attention to us at the Nissan dealership even after we walked inside and sat in the new Maxima. Would Infiniti do routine work on a Nissan if you wanted them to? If so that is where I will be taking my car from now on.

Anyway, imho the answer to your question is no. Nissan is not up for any grammys or JD powers or Car & Driver awards. The best you can do is find a dealer and stick with it. Then the human aspect takes over, you're a repeat customer. Just like when you meet a new girl in the office, at first she doesn't know/care about you from Adam. After time you joke around and develop a rapport.
For example, today I get to the dealer at 3:45 pm for my safety/emissions inspection. The adjuster was like is the inspection tomorrow? I said no, today! 40 minutes later he said mr. Fontaine you're all set, everything's fine. My muffler is rusted out ont he outside yet they had me out in 40 minutes. I know they didn't pull my 18" rims because I checked the torque on all for and sure as day they're 85 ft-lbs.
I would steer clear of infiniti even though I like the Q45. You just don't hear good things about them. Nissan, you got the price in your favor and like I said they are not Lexus but they can be friendly/adequate.

What's up with a 40 minute inspection? Are they supposed to check mufflers and take rims off in your state? I just got my '97 done here in Louisiana, and they ask if all the lights, horn, and sometimes wipers work. Pay $10, they put on a new sticker, and out the door in 5 minutes you go. The downside I guess is that I've seen hoopties that are unsafe for even a junk yard! (When your front seats aren't even bolted down...)

Security Nissan in my area, seem to be a nice dealership everyone is pretty freindly, until one day I stop by there to purchase some detail paint and what did I see, three customers that had work done on the cars, arguing with the service managers because they were still having problems and having them work on there cars. So I to myself I'll never get any work done there....
