Guaging Interest: Optima Batteries (NYC??)

I am interested in getting an Optima Battery. I found someone that may be willing to set up a group deal but because they are so heavy, I only see it being worthwhile for local pick-ups only. I have not gotten a final price yet because I need to gauge interest first to see how many people would be interested. As of right now the price is $150 not including shipping (Yellow top). Red top is approximately $130 and blue tops are approximately $130 for the regular one and $160 for the deep cycle. If anyone wanted to get in on this and not want to pick it up locally, I could see about shipping it for you.

Also, please let me know if anyone can find a place with a better price.. From what I have seen its a pretty good price.

For those in the West... COSTCO sells the REDTOP Optima/Interstate for $100... at least a week or so ago.

Re: Guaging Interest: Optima Batteries (NYC??)

I received a final price on the Optima Batteries.
Provided I get ten people (including myself so 9 more people)..
The Yellow Top (D750U) is $110
Shipping for all 10 to my place is $270
So that's $137 per battery - local pickup (NYC area)
The prices I got for the other types are also for groups of 10, don't know if I can mix and match. Here are the prices just in case.

Blue Top (1000M) $122 - local pickup
Blue Top (D900M) $145 - local pickup
Red Top (800S) $116 - local pickup

I personally wouldn't care what color I got though I prefer Blue to match everything else in my engine bay. Of course prices would be cheaper if more peopled joined in but I didn't think there'd be that great of an interest in them.

Also, these are all guaranteed new batteries. There should not be any problems with them like that post going around about the Toronto GB.

There is no problem with the Toronto GB All the batteries are new and we are working on determining the cause of the one case. If it is a legit fault and not misuse then it will be replaced.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that there was anything wrong.. Just meant that I would make sure that it didn't happen.

If we can get 8 more people, its a go.. Maybe less. I have 2 friends who may want batteries as well.

wow the $110 seems like a great price. $27 shipping doesn't sound too good but it must be coming from Cali or something. If the groupbuy goes through I could possibly be interested. If it doesn't this is the cheapest price that I've found:

http://www.batterymart.com/merchant2...ry_Code=optima

These are the prices I was quoted for shipping to Queens:

- UPS Next Day Air (R) ($63.22)
- UPS Next Day Air Saver (R) ($55.89)
- UPS 2nd Day Air (R) ($39.38)
- UPS 3 Day Select (R) ($29.38)
- UPS Ground ($13.12)

So it would be a grand total of $153 shipped using ground.

BTW I think that the blue top optima batteries are for boats and RVs.
