just the other day i was at a light, some kids started crossing as the light turned. me and my nice attitude let them pass. so you'd think they'd at least hurry across the street. so one is walking slow, the other is in the middle waiting for the slow one, and then they start talking right there in the middle. i slowly creep up, about a foot away from them. they look up at me like "what's this kid gonna do"....i honked...and didn't let go. it didn't take too long for them to get out of the way.

i cannot emphasize how loud these are. i'm glad many of you decided to get them. they are well worth it. and once you hear them, you'll never use your stocks again.

I am not sure if I got in on the next deal.
Anyone know any good alternative locations to get these horns at a most likely higher price?

Anyone have instructions or no how to do the 4th gen install like dicari, but with keeping the stock horns and having a switch to have them on and off?

I bought mine last week but haven't been had a chance to install them yet. In the last few days, I've had need of them about 20 times. I can't wait to get these installed.

Are there any wiring diagrams for this Hella switch? I'd like to get the horns and be able to use my stock horns as well.

1 quick question: Do the horns use a switched ground or switched 12v (sounds like 12v from other posts).

There are diagrams in the instruction sheet that came with Hella supertone. I don't remember if OEM is switched +12V or switched ground. I'll look when I get home.

Hey,
I received my horns a couple or days ago. I haven’t really had a good chance to properly look at what type of installation I am getting into. But I also am interested in running a switch. I have no clue on how to wire this whatsoever, so if any 4th genner does this, can you please make a write-up about it too? The hardest electrical thing I have done to my car is those LEDs in the window switches, so practically have no experience, but I always look forward to a challenge.
Oh yea, I just also wanted to note that soundmike if definitely a great seller. He keeps the buyer very informed, provided tracking numbers very quickly. He is very prompt. I highly recommend him. Thanks again soundmike
One more thing, my horns came packaged in a new looking box and the horns look great, I am very satisfied. Only if I could install them.
Thanks again,
-nismoflo

Thanks Tony. I have a FSM, but I forgot to bring it home for the holidays, thus it's sitting on the shelf at school Whether the horns are switched ground or switched 12v couldn't you wire up a stock/Hella switch using a relay? One set would be activated with the switch off (relay not activated) and the other set could be activated when the switch is on (relay activated).

Regardless, let us know when/how much these air horns will be soundmike

From looking at FSM, it's switched +12V. You could wire up a switch but to tell you the truth. The supertone is not as loud as I thought it would be. You would be wasting your time wiring up a switch. They might be 1 db or 2 db louder than Hella airhorns. I still don't think they are loud enough.

Are you using the stock wiring or the 14 awg wiring? The thicker the wire = more current = louder horns?

Also, the switch is so you can switch between the stock horns and the new horns, it doesn't have anything to do with how loud the supertones can be. Are you talking about the relay?

I'm using a relay with some 16 gauge wires.

Maybe re-wire it with 12 AWG if you want it louder?

Looks like 16 or 18 gauge. That one horn-wiring instructions site said use 14 AWG. I guess if it's still not loud enough, use a larger gauge wire for more power flow. Is that how is works?

You're asking the wrong guy... I don't even know how to get my front grille off yet.

I used the existing horn wire, but used 12 gauge for the ground. They seem to be pretty loud. I am going to wire in the relay at some point (when it's a bit warmer outside!!) I will use 12 gauge wire for the entire install.

I think it's possible the thicker wire and relay will make them louder, but I'm not 100% sure. It surely won't hurt....

Thicker wire will help if it extra current is needed, but there shouldn't be that much of a difference between 14 and 16 if there is any at all. I don't think the horns have that much of a draw.
