GD on custommaxima RACING STRAIGHT PIPE
those that have a tracking number, did you click the box that says you agree to terms and conditions? first time i clicked on "track" i forgot to click that box and it gave me a screen as if the track # didn't work. Make sure you click that box or it will never work...
and those in the west will have to wait the longest, so if your in cali, get ready to hear feedback before receiving yours

STRAIGHT PIPE INSTALLED AND FEEDBACK
ok, i just got straight pipe installed at meineke for 45 dollars, i saw them install it and its not that hard, but i suck at installs under the car and i feel i got beat cause the price for the work doesn't compare...i was just worried about rusted bolts...
anyhow, after install, i started car up, and NO ECU CODES, NO ENGINE LIGHTS, same normal ish, so that is taken care of.
Second, i rev engine and it sounds pretty much the same as before. I have a warpspeed y-pipe and custom catback and that was pretty loud, this didn't do TOO MUCH to the sound, maybe a real little but nothing to complain about....
HOWEVER!!!!
when i installed my y-pipe (had it on old car that was in accident and put in new car), i remember from time to time, barely hearing a little bees in a can sound...before it was nothing to complain about. In fact, after some time it went away. Before i put y-pipe on, car sounded perfect and y-pipe altered sound a little in the negative aspect. BUT this straight pipe makes that bees in a can sound sound 3X louder at full throttle when driving!
When i shift into second and am around 4 to 5k rpm, u can definitely hear it mixed with the nice muffled sound from the catback...so far that's the only thing i hate, but i don't really blame that on the straight pipe, in fact, i'm not sure what to blame that on...the y-pipe didn't make any bees in a can or nasty sounds when in my old car, but i was hit from behind (car was totaled) and it pushed the muffler in, this could have bent the y-pipe a little...maybe....
OK, here's the most important thing, what makes it all worth it!!!!
POWER. I only drove like 5 blocks and as i can see, i can feel a slight power increase. Not sure if its in my head but i do feel a slight power increase...car doesn't choke up as much, its like, i dont' know, just feels freeier...
So far u can say i spent like 110 dollars for all of this for a small increase in power. Just like buying a intake or something...do i think its worth it. Not fully sure yet. I still have to do more testing and see what other negatives i may come across.
Things i want to test is:
- sound when car is cold (morning)
- sound of car when going at high speeds
- more driving to see if the extra power is in my head or for real
- see if this dam bees in a can sound can be eliminated
For 50 bucks, i say its definitely worth it but if you have to get it installed and if everything runs u over 110 bucks, from what i see SO FAR, i say it may not be totally worth it...but a lot of u may install it yourself or get great deals in install...plus some of u may be boosted and whatever...i'm N/A...i'll give more feedback as i test stuff more...
Nonetheless, i'm happy at the speed i got my pipe. custom maxima gets a A in customer service from me...

lol and for a good 3 minutes i had to fight to keep my catayltic converter. Dumb f*cks said its illegal to give it back to me cause it got CO2 in it...whether they are right or wrong, i'm not paying like another 200 dollars for another one when the sh*t is right in my hand...i even paid them under the table for the dam install, F THAT!
install is very easy, i had one on my car, you just need a friend to hold the pipe while you put the bolts in place, that would be the only tricky part if you tried to do it by yourself............as for the sound difference.....you don't notice it much when you put it on the car if you have a y pipe and cat back, but when i sold my old test pipe and put my cat back on, you notice the difference, it almost seems like the throttle isn't as responsive, and you can tell the air flow has been more restrictive, with the stock cat back on i could definately tell it was not as deep......i just would like to see a before and after dyno, not that i think custom max's dyno is false but it's always nice to see more proof.....but i definately noticed the power gained and lost from having the pipe to when i put the cat back on.........I'm hoping for the same from this, except this is stainless steel and has a resonator so maybe will be alittle less loud
UPDATE ON STRAIGHT PIPE FEEDBACK
ok, i got some good news so far...
after class, i decided to to take rt 22 home, test this bad boy on the highway. Few things i realized
Car is a little louder at low rpm's, that's normally when my exhaust is at its best as well.
THERE IS A DEFINITE POWER INCREASE but its weird. Its like the car feels much freeier, like takes less force to go fast. Even at low rpm's i feel myself pulling faster than i ever did before. And the bees in a can sound is gone!!!
i tested it in every way, drove up to high rpm's in low gears, just did a qick WOT in neutral, no nasty sounds...atleast not inside the car, i still gotta test when someone is doing it and i'm outside...
am i happy with my purchase, YES
is it worth the 50 bucks? DEFINITELY
is it worth the 100 bucks to those who may miss out on this GD...IMO i say yes, but for 50 bucks, DEFINITELY.
I'm not dissappointed, there is power increase, car gets a little louder, and you can hear like a roar at high ends, kind of like a y-pipe...so for those of u who are too cheap to get a muffler but want something a little louder than a y-pipe, this may help out
i wish i had time to do a dyno....

and are testing it...... i'm dying to test it
and stay safe man.... i will be so lucky if i see a damn single snow flake this year....
As I was looking at the shiny piece of mail I got today I noticed the straight pipe inlet & outlet is pretty big in diameter. I think it is 3". Isn't that a bit big for our exhausts....(unless ur boosted)? If placed on a stock exhaust or in my car 2.5 y-pipe and 2.25 Apex'i catback, won't it cause air turbulence? I'm not sure what the effects will be. I'm sure it won't be anything too noticeable tho. I was even thinking of welding/cutting some type of device similar to the velocity stack on the POP intake (If I can find it) to smooth the airflow in the outlet. I dunno... just random thoughts

Well the flanges on the straight pipe are exactly the same size are the flanges on the stock cat so it should fit perfectly as long as the flanges line up. I was just concerned if the straight pipe is meant more for boosted applications with 3" exhaust. Oh well, I do have a new T04E/T3 ceramic ball bearing turbo sitting in my basement. I'll have a 3" exhaust on my car by the summer as well

If you wanna check to see if the GD is going on click on the link on the 3rd or 4th page of this thread. If the total comes to be 50 bones, you're all set.

thanks greg!
